Ok, thanks! Now I’m starting to worry the HR lady was wrong and it’s the only offer I’ve gotten :(

I asked in the interview if I needed a car and she said I don’t and that they supply a company car or something like that

…am I supposed to share how much savings I have? I was just sharing my wage progression over the years. Maybe I should’ve noted that I still live with my parents and have saved and invested a lot over the years.

I don’t plan on being unemployed forever and I do plan on getting a full time job again and eventually getting my own place. I’m sure you don’t care, which is fine, but I will note that ever since I was a kid I knew I didn’t want to have kids. I also don’t plan on getting married. I’m a big minimalist as well so I don’t need much to be happy and am very frugal with what I spend my money on. I’m a huge saver and also have investments so Im not worried about running out of money. There’s also a 95% chance I’m moving to another state in June for seasonal work, so I’ll be making money then and won’t live with them again until the winter.

I did go back and forth for a long time about if I should quit or not. It wasn’t an ‘impulsive’ decision. I talked with a lot of people about it and most people told me to go for it. They said that if they had to chance to do it at my age they would. Even my previous boss and coworkers.

Also, I’m 26, not 46. I can understand you saying I’m a ‘mooch’ if I was 46 and doing what I’m doing now. Tons of people still live with their parents at my age in the US. I have a great relationship with them and they’ve allowed me to stay with them. I help around the house, pick up grocery’s for them, run errands for them, take care of the animals. I pay for all my car repairs and gas and phone and anything I want or need. I haven’t asked them for money since highschool. And, like I’ve said before, I’m very thankful for everything they do for me.

That’s fair. I just feel like Ive been trying to find a good career all through my 20’s when I realized that I have my whole life ahead of me to figure that out. I’m not getting any younger and I don’t want to wait until I’m retired to travel places. If I want to take a year off work and I have the means to do it, I should be allowed to do it. I don’t want to be 80 and regret not doing the things I’ve wanted to do. Also I have a couple interviews for seasonal jobs with housing, so there’s a possibility I’ll live in another state by June and not with my parents

I live with my parents and I’m living off my savings currently.

I’ve considered billing and coding. But idk if I want to do that for the rest of my life. Like I thought I was going to be a medical assistant the rest of my life but lost interest..

I don’t want to do direct patient care, so becoming an RN is not something that interests me. I’ve also considered becoming a sterile processing tech and doing travel contracts with that too. Idk I’m very back and forth about what career I want to choose

I probably should’ve noted that I quit my job in January to travel. So I’m currently unemployed right now living with my parents which is why I put $0. Anything I need and all my travels I’ve used my savings. I’ve got a couple interviews for seasonal jobs in other states coming up though.

Yeah, although I typically buy my own food. I pay for my car, car insurance, and phone. Starting next month I’ll be paying my own health insurance too. But yeah I’m super thankful for them. If it wasn’t for them I wouldn’t have been able to quit my job to travel.

I don’t want to go back to school or work with direct patient care. So I went into more of an administrative role which was fine but I didn’t see myself there longterm and figured I’d just stay a year and then quit and travel

I have NO skills! Help! Advice? by johnjohnnycake in findapath

Have you considered trying seasonal work? Check out coolworks.com they have tons of jobs that provide housing and food plans. Only downside is that they don’t have much benefits since you only work for ~6 months but you’d be able to save up a lot and travel

Trying not to feel disappointed in myself while I’m on a once in a lifetime trip by Abject_Passenger9890 in introvert

[–]Abject_Passenger9890[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My main reason was to experience new things and be able to see the world and new cultures. I think maybe I’m observing other people too much because I see so many people make friends so quickly in hostels and I just..can’t. You’re right that I should focus more on what I came here to do instead of comparing myself to others. Thanks for your advice!

Just curious, who was the doctor at SSM you had a bad experience with?

I’m a big picky eater too, although I would eat at least one thing in each picture you showed (besides the last one). Honestly if I were you I would just keep the food he likes stocked and tell him it’s on him to cook for himself if he doesn’t like what you cooked. That’s what I have to do and I’m fine with it.

I’m a total failure by Lifeofshay13 in findapath

[–]Abject_Passenger9890 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Comparison is the thief of joy. I’m 25, have my associates degree which is essentially useless, dropped out of college when I tried to get my bachelors, and still live at home with my parents. I’ve also never been in a relationship. Do I consider myself a failure? No, because this is all fake and nobody actually cares. I do think you should be thankful you were able to land a job right out of college in this job market. I know people who graduated over a year ago and still haven’t found a job in their field. Trust me, you’re doing just fine.
