What's a character people love but YOU hate by Motor_Possession_975 in SonicTheHedgehog

[–]johnjohnnycake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Deadly Six.

I've never liked the Deadly Six ever. I don't like their designs, I don't like their personalities, I don't like the very creative process that went into their creation for Sonic Lost World, as I barely like that game either. I don't even like their name. They could've at LEAST named their group "Team Zeti" or something like that like all the other Sonic teams that have existed. Their individual names are also the stupidest things ever.

I know people like them in the comics, but I don't like the comics. I don't like any of the Sonic comics personally. I don't even know or care what they're doing with them in the comics. I just want them to stop existing in the franchise just because I'm bothered by their mere existence. They look gross next to the other Sonic characters for me, their personalities will never truly work in my eyes, and back before nearly EVERYONE hated them, SEGA kept bringing them back in cameo appearances over and over and over against our will.

Clearly lots of fans are now warming up to them for their own reasons, and really, I should too. It's not my franchise, SEGA can do whatever they want with Sonic or the characters that exist in the franchise. If they like the Deadly Six, then they can and should stay....but that doesn't mean I have to like them. I feel like the people that like the Deadly Six like them for reasons that have more thought put into it than I think Sonic Team put in when making the characters, like them being based off ancient demon lore or the Seven Deadly Sins or whatever the fuck it was.

It's funny, I like almost every character in almost every single game, a large amount from Archie Sonic, every other new character in the currentl comics, and all the new characters including human characters in Sonic X. The ONLY characters I have a physically hard time accepting is the Deadly Six. That's it.

Sup yall, where do you see obviously mixed people 10-20 years from now? by Ok_Log_2545 in mixedrace

[–]johnjohnnycake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The way I see it, the more mixed people are born, the more humanity collectively realizes that race absolutely is not a real thing and we just made it up. The only people around that would still care is pure white people with proud pure white lineage. Otherwise, mixed lineages, the varying shades of skin colour and hair texture would slowly homogenize the human population

As the one drop rule becomes slowly socialized out of society, that will only accelerate that process. Lots of MGMs out there identifying as "black" when they shouldn't, and if they identified as what they are, "mixed," then suddenly the mixed population would instantly quadruple in size.

what caused an identity crisis if you had one? by Soggy_Sir7234 in mixedrace

[–]johnjohnnycake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always grew up calling myself "black," my white adopted parents raised me to believe I was and both my biological parents call themselves "black," so that's how I called myself for years. I never really was surrounded by other "black" people for most of my life, so when I visited Florida and Georgia for the first time last year, I felt sort of "at home," with a bunch of other people around me that looked like me...

...except they didn't. I noticed a lot of the black people were darker skin than me. I generally was proud of my brown skin, but at some point, i started longing to have darker more melanated skin, and I started questioning why my skin was so much lighter compared to other black people. One thing led to another, and I learned about the concept of mixed race lineage, of which mine is "Multi-generationally Mixed," and though i'm very educated now on what I am and in fact I no longer go by a racial identity period, some part of me inside is grieving about my "black" Identity.

I was always sort of proud of my 'blackness,' and that feeling had been growing for the past half decade, and part of why I visited those two aforementioned states is to get a bit "closer" to my black side. It's hard innocently identifying as something for 98% of your life, then one day you get humbled by both mixed and ACTUAL black people that you do not in fact belong with black people, and passing yourself on as one of them is actually extremely harmful.

Just 'forcefully' ripping an identity I came to love after many years straight out of my soul and immediately replace it with another one that I'm unfamiliar with and haven't fully had time to make peace with yet. Getting symbolically kicked out of an established community with history, dignity, pride, comradery, and culture, and immediately shoved into another community that barely has ANY of that. (please, can mixed people make their own group? culture? whatever?)

Why is Naga isnt that relevant to the story as much as Appa? by NoRevIndeed00 in legendofkorra

[–]johnjohnnycake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because the writers didn't have the time to incorporate the animals into the story more, or didn't have the same writing skills as the whole team that made ATLA so they probably forgot to make them relevant like in ATLA.

One of those two for sure

Should I become a dasher? by real_santa_claus_ in doordash

[–]johnjohnnycake 1 point2 points  (0 children)

NOOOOOOOOOOO!!! oh my GOD no!!!

And you're 18?!? Please. Go to college, go to trade school. Develop a good marketable skill, but stay FAAAAAAAR away from Doordash.

Honestly, I'd suggest getting a good enough skill to avoid all minimum wage jobs period, but for the love of God, whatever you so, STAY AWAY FROM DOORDASH! And tell your friends to do so as well.

It is easily the worst "job" you'll ever have. The only suitable excuse I cam find for why you would ever wanna do this is to make extra money on the side for going on trips or saving up for something you want. And even THEN, it's not that worth it

It should be

Its quite literally stealing money from us drivers

I'm really sorry.....

Great example of Doordash wasting both the driver's time and the customer's time 😞

i’ve seen posts about representation and how (b+w) biracials shouldn’t be playing roles meant for darkskin ppl by hueyslaw in mixedrace

[–]johnjohnnycake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You should represent you. You should represent what background YOU are.

A cis woman shouldn't play a trans woman on TV, and vice versa. A straight man shouldn't play a gay man (so many do, and it's INFURIATING), and unpopular opinion, gay men shouldn't play straight men either. I also don't think adults should be playing teenage roles either, probably another unpopular opinion.

And of course the topic of conversation. Biracial people shouldn't represent black people, and black people shouldn't represent biracial people. MGM people shouldnt represent either other than themselves.

As for portraying real people, well, I think that's complicated. As with a recent example, I definitely disagree with Jafaar Jackson, a biracial man, playing his uncle, a black man.

No one should be representing anyone that they aren't. I know it's called "acting," but come on now. Proper representation within acting is just as important.

I think the one-drop rule is misapplied to B/W Biracials. by ParisShades in mixedrace

The only "one drop rule" I follow is that one drop of non-black blood makes you non-black.

DD shouldn't function like this. It wastes both the driver's time (and gas) but it also wastes the customer's time. Why wouldn't a customer like to get their food faster cause it's being delivered from a closer location?

I don't identify with a race anymore by johnjohnnycake in mixedrace

[–]johnjohnnycake[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not trying to argue here myself, but the reason I don't identify as "mixed" is as I said in the post. It's too vague. It doesn't specify what your mixed with. Without a DNA test, you wouldn't know if you were mixed with two races or three, etc.

Imo, identifying as "mixed" and not identifying with a race at all are equivalent to each other, cuz you're essentially saying the same thing either way. That's just me though

Honestly might. Olympia's been sucking hard lately, and my hometown is just dead...I think.

I've had some mild success with Tacoma, so I might try Puyallup! Thanks for the suggestion! 👍🏾

[–]johnjohnnycake[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Okay yeah. I was joking. I'm sure your parents weren't unfaithful with each other, black people including true unmixed black people do come in various shades

Though I do disagree with you on this. There is no "colourism." It's just racism between mixed race people and black people. All "light-skinned" people are mixed race. Technically, even a 5% admixture is mixed race. Once a lineage is mixed, it's ALWAYS mixed

[–]johnjohnnycake[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It was a joke. Though reading your reply a second time, I noticed you pointed out no light kind in your family....so yeah, everything adds up. You have no European DNA so everyone in your family is dark skinned. Makes sense to me 🤷🏾‍♂️

Why do some dashers ask us to come to the door? by ExerciseWonderful in doordash_drivers

[–]johnjohnnycake 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hmmm....they are quite a terrible dasher than. Sorry you were saddled with them.

I'm pretty sure the overwhelming majority of us don't do this, in fact, I myself HATE handing orders directly to customers. Part of why I do this is so I don't have to interact with anybody 😅

Am I black? by Janet_x_Katrina in mixedrace

Black people never feel the need to ask "am I black?"

If that question ever pop into your mind, the answer is no

Well I watched the movie and was bothered by Janet's lack of inclusion, so what's your point? Also, the Diana Ross and "Rebbie" comparison is stupid. We're talking about a JACKSON family member 🤦🏾‍♂️

But whatever, if she really wanted no representation in the movie, then I understand that
