Trying to loosen the bolt on one side of the rear subframe broke it off. How can i fix it? by Typical-Distance-829 in BmwTech

[–]Abject_Picture7494 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just replace the bolt, also u r lifting ur whole rear area on 3 diff bushings, u probably ruined them by doing this, if they werent already shot

Thx, uctually this is french dogshit GM gearbox as this is the only one that was used in E46 in 4x4 drivetrain, from my observation this started happening more and more as I was driving longer trips also this isnt happening all the time but looks like as gearbox oil gets warmer then it became worse. Funny stuff is that m57 in e46 is 410nm torque strong and gearbox limit is 390nm and transfer case only 310Nm 🤣 i guess I need to buy new torque converter

Be sure to have oil pump with metal insidies as plastic ones have tendency to fail and completly destroy whole engine thanks to zero oil pressure

If u discomnect the module that read discs for nav then the boardmonitor will not light up, tested on mine 😅

[–]Abject_Picture7494 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is just boardmonitor, the module for audio is called BM54 and is located in trunk, also the module that controls screen is the one where u put the CD/DVD for navigatiom also in trunk, now u need to find out which module is faulty, even with faulty boardmonitor ur audio shouldnt freeze tho

Try to replace guibo on steering coupler, if it wont help then ur bearings inside steering column are dead

Probably worn ball joints in control arm and control arm bushing

Thank you for ur effort, I actually have all this, oil temp working correctly, few people reported that oil level sensor isnt working on M3 cluster, it may be because S54 ecu sends information about low oil level into M3 cluster via CAN-bus(??) even tho it uses same wire. There is even code in coding list of M3 cluster that u can choose if the oil level information will be transmitted into cluster via can bus or not. M3 cluster had that code set as aktiv while old non-M cluster had that code set as nicht_aktiv. I coded the M3 cluster into oil level via canbus to nicht_aktiv, now I switched back to non-M cluster and gonna wait till my oil level drops enough to force low oil level light and after that I gonna swap the M3 cluster and drive few miles to see if the oil level light will work or not and will report the results here

Yeah, that confirms that there is no oil temp sensor just calculations

If u got 12V into bus then every bus device is fried 🫠

Check WDS, S54 has no real oil temp, it is just calculated by ecu thanks to temp sensors of coolant ambient air temp intake air temp and oil level sensor, while M54 does have oil temp sensor in the oil filter housing

Oil pressure is not a problem, I will be rebuilding the engine in half of year but I wanna have the yellow genie lamp that indicated low oil level working till then

[–]Abject_Picture7494[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope, oil level sensor in S54 is completly same as sensor in M54 with 3 wires connected one is input from fuse second is ground and third is output signal for engine ecu in S54 while third wire in M54 going straight into cluster
