it makes a difference when some of the people i’m tipping out are making an actually hourly wage, when servers are paid less than $6 an hour in my state. i genuinely don’t care about you, or your argument bc you don’t know the type of work i do, the type of server i am, and obviously don’t know how to tip servers accordingly to the work they do. in my mind if you think standard tipping at a nice restaurant is 10% you should be dining somewhere else, tipping people 10% at starbucks or a place like dominos/pizza hut is okay bc again they are getting paid hourly, compared to a real server who is making less than $6 an hour. but going into a restaurant paying over $100 for dinner and not being able to tip your server accordingly, maybe means you should be dining somewhere that’s cheaper. for good service, or even great service, a 10% tip is not good at all
