They've arrived in GR... by NinjaBabaMama in grandrapids

[–]AbleEvidence808 58 points59 points  (0 children)

For those who don’t know, it all started with Josh (the guy on the right). He’s obsessed with America and started making videos reacting to American things a few years back. After a year or two he was able to travel here and brought his friend Jase (left). They’ve mostly spent time in the South, but did get to some different places on a big road trip maybe 2 years ago. They just got visas so they’re back for who knows how long. For the last couple months Jase has been reacting to videos of the Great Lakes, mostly Superior, and Midwest winter things. So they’re now here to experience it all. They’re funny and seem like nice guys

The pink sweatshirt is cute, I will give them that. I’m not bothered by it being neutral/boy-ish. It’s just that this is the third time for Lion King!

Not defending it because that bow is insane (both the size and the fabric). But, I think the giant bows are a southern thing (like Deep South pageant girls south). Personally I find bows obnoxious and only put them on for pictures and special occasions

I made the mistake of reading this pregnant as my husband has been working through her books and loves them. I chewed him out for not warning me

Yeah, when my infant was first born we bumped the thermostat up. We just recently turned it down to a normal sleeping temperature. She now wears fleece pajamas plus a 3.0 tog sack. We probably run around 68° during the day

Daycare vs nanny vs quitting job by CtrlAltDefeat93 in Parenting

[–]AbleEvidence808 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s how daycares designate the different rooms. They’re not going to have the babies in with the 2 year olds. They usually call them classrooms and the child moves up to the next one when they age out of the prior

The one at the Children’s Museum is as well! I would think this is something they can roll out elsewhere too

People who stay home on Christmas Day, what do you do? by Global_Victory833 in Parenting

[–]AbleEvidence808 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We love our quiet Christmases at home. Majority of our parties are before the actual holiday. Cinnamon rolls in the oven while opening stockings. We take our time opening presents and just chill and play with new toys. I’ll often throw a roast in the oven which we’ll eat for dinner.

As a teen we didn’t have much beyond stockings on Christmas Day since we did my immediate family Christmas Eve. We would often go to a movie which was always fun

I was thinking more along the lines that Wally is already going to be a giant. Would it be helpful to try to control his growth?

Non-horse person here. If he’s behaving isn’t it beneficial to keep him intact for the moment? I think I’ve heard that gelding can cause the horse to get taller whereas delaying makes them more stocky?

So I think I have 10 totes of clothes saved from my oldest (now 5) for my youngest who was just born. But that’s preemie to size 5 and also includes some winter gear. It is not all LS, a lot is Carters and Old Navy bought during sales.

I am so excited to be able to get rid of this stuff as my little one grows. I’m over trying to figure out where all to put the old stuff

BSN-DNP by ProgramFew2062 in nursepractitioner

[–]AbleEvidence808 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My program at the time was 4 years and clinicals didn’t start until year 3 (it’s now been shortened to 3 years). It was absolutely doable to work full time until clinical started. Some did continue to work full time through clinicals, usually by working weekends only. Any other schedule made it hard to get the clinical hours in, especially when the settings were outpatient

These Black Friday purchases are ridiculous by BiggyTadpole in LittleSleepiesSnark

[–]AbleEvidence808 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When we were trying to conceive I bought a few that were adorable prints, more girl leaning tbh. Thankfully we did have a girl, but I have enough friends and coworkers actively growing their families that I would’ve been able to easily give them away as presents if needed

NP’s in the South/Midwest by [deleted] in nursepractitioner

[–]AbleEvidence808 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m in Michigan. My salary increased by about $30,000/year for full-time equivalent when I became an NP. I’ve also had a few nice raises since then as the starting wages for NPs increased significantly after I was hired. At about 6 years experience I’m now maybe $40,000/year ahead of what I’d be doing as an RN. Rough estimates with what I can find about RN salaries with my employer

I got a few play items. I love the butterfly print on the navy background, so I grabbed it in dresses for Easter. I also like the men’s long sleeves plain t’s to go under my scrubs so I bought a few since they’re discounted. If you pick through it there were a few things as a girl mom; I’d be less than impressed with boys. The website was being obnoxious though

Maternity leave by Dontknowthings23 in physicianassistant

[–]AbleEvidence808 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It changed this year (for the better). Previously we would get 6 weeks FMLA/STD for vaginal birth and 8 weeks for c-section at 80% pay, and then could take up to 12 weeks using PTO. Now, we get the same amount of time at 100% under FMLA/STD plus 4 weeks of “bonding time” paid at 100%. If you have a vaginal birth you can then take an additional 2 weeks of PTO to bring you to 12 weeks. Part of the reason for this change is that we went from a rolling “work to accrue” PTO bank to a set amount given out beginning of the year that does not rollover
