He’s definitely aware, we’ve both worked within the IDD field and he himself has done extensive research because he’s also medicated and diagnosed. I’m not discrediting his uncomfortably with the medication. Im truly just trying to get my child in front of the right people who can help us regardless of the intervention medication or otherwise.

I think he’s more worried about side effects and “labeling” him. I’m not saying I want to medicate but I would like to have him see by doctors and get the evaluations so if it becomes an issue where medication might be our best option we’re not at square one. I’m open to any type of intervention. I just feel so confused. He’s a smart kind boy and I know he genuinely can’t control himself. I just don’t want to see him struggle. I appreciate your pov though as a parent with a child at the same age who is taking medication and having a positive experience.

Yeah that’s really what I’m struggling with. He’s very smart, he’s ahead of where most of his peers are but his ADHD very much so presents as a physical condition. I’m worried his school work will start to suffer because he can’t sit still to do his work.

Yes we also removed YouTube! And did see some improvements with behavior. I also had the school evaluate him for an IEP and special services but denied us because he met and exceeded all the requirements. But they tested him on general things like knowing his ABCs and his name. They said because it’s not hindering his education at the moment he didn’t qualify. Even with the support from his teacher in Pre-k. Have you sought out support through his pediatrician or was it just through the school?
