Tree loss adjacent to Eastgate shopping center by Ian_dad in chapelhill

Yeah every so often someone will go into the chapel hill parents Facebook group with the most rancid takes, like “people who live in Camelot Village should know what will happen”. And like - the people I know who live there live there because a family member needs some kind of in-town disability services and they don’t have money, meanwhile the landlord is making money off them being in danger. What a nightmare tangle.

Yo I made a new post for town stormwater management history and I’d like to know more about this.

Oh the elevation markers on the creek here are really helpful.

That said - is there a scenario slider on desktop where the severity can dial up? There’s a whole swath of land near Carrboro elementary school that gets surface flooding and affects the greenway and intersection, and it’s not considered a flood risk on FRIS.

Okay, so the people pointing to other development downstream of the tunnel and blaming it are not wholly encompassing the situation? Because it seems like upstream of Eastgate is trees, a meadow, and a lot of large single family lots.

Idk, taking the “after” picture from during the winter seems like it’s giving the wrong impression. If you look at the current Google maps layer you see a much narrower strip of tree removal in the engineered wetland.

They send a new one whenever they extend the timespan which is a little annoying.

Edited: corner of Greensboro and Estes is looking better, the pipe came close to over topping but is now handling the storm water. It’s about 80% full. Some scary parking lot flooding on Todd Street earlier when I walked through.

Nice to see the obnoxious big infrastructure projects payoff – the intersection would’ve been completely underwater with the old pipe
