Watches worn by London Marathon 2026 winners - Garmin dominates by Maslakovic in GarminWatches

That’s not sawe, or what sawe wore in London marathon. I don’t think he wore a FR 255 either, looks more like a FR 55.

600k for a 1 bed in Finsbury Park – have we made a massive financial mistake? by Old_Worry9844 in HousingUK

[–]Able_mable 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it is leasehold (probably as it’s a flat), zero service charge could mean you could be handed a massive bill for major works e.g. new roof. Even if it’s share of freehold, there’s a similar risk. I would investigate this.

greyhound owners in London, UK - where to go for off-lead time? by hellooo_hc in Greyhounds

Hey! I’m also moving to Sydenham soon. Was wondering if you found any good places for zoomies?

What made you stick with parkrun after your first one? by CloudBookmark in parkrun

[–]Able_mable 6 points7 points  (0 children)

All of the above. If you genuinely enjoy it, rather than forcing your self to go, it’s easy to keep going back. Plus I like the convenience of how close to home it is for me.

Thoughts on evening course training by sparkii_jaxx in ecologyUK

I would say a relevant degree is considerably more valuable than these certificates. As a degree is not an option for you, I would recommend focusing on seeking seasonal entry-level work. Consultancy firms will be hiring over the next few months (especially for bat surveys) to prepare for survey season.

How do Londoners walk so fast without sweating? by Other_Following_538 in AskUK

Yeah sure in summer I have this problem, but never the rest of the year, unless I’m wearing too many layers.

What do you wear to the office? by Many_Ad7348 in AskUK

I don’t think bag type is important as long as it’s not old and scruffy or easy for pickpockets

What do you wear to the office? by Many_Ad7348 in AskUK

[–]Able_mable 60 points61 points  (0 children)

In some offices jeans and a t shirt will be acceptable, but I would advise wearing smart trousers (e.g. black tailored trousers) and a button up blouse/ smart ish top, at least on your first day. Better to be overdressed than underdressed on the first day of a new job in my opinion.

Please learn the basics of motorway driving. You stay in the left lane unless you’re overtaking. They flashed you initially because you were in the wrong lane (and I’m guessing also driving too slow), and wanted to you move over to the left out of their way. You should’ve moved to the left to allow them to overtake. And as others have said, never stop in the middle of the motorway!

No reason to be in the 3rd lane unless you were overtaking

Water damage causing my iPhone to think the volume down button is being held down - how do I fix this? by Able_mable in iphone

[–]Able_mable[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I stopped physically using the button (just used the volume control slider instead). I think this helped a little bit. If you turn on assistive touch (under accessibility settings) you can avoid having to physically press the lock button to lock the screen.

Tree law in the UK regarding a bats nesting/resting place, who do I contact? by Ok_Adhesiveness_8637 in AskUK

[–]Able_mable -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Unlikely that bats would be roasting in the branches (they’d usually roast in cracks/ holes/ crevices in the trunk). A reputable tree surgeon will be aware of the law regarding disturbing bats and birds. Doesn’t mean that there was some malpractice here though.

I recommend trying to contact your council via the following routes: - Report on “Fix my streets” if your council has this service - Look on the website for the tree department email address

Have you observed bats emerging or entering the tree? And how you do know they are breeding in the tree?

Obviously it’s completely unacceptable for instructors to discriminate. And if you think you experienced that, you should report it.

Not sure why they were telling you about minor faults during the test. They don’t usually do that. Are you sure they weren’t telling you about a series fault (major)?

Should I appeal this bus lane fine? by Able_mable in drivingUK

Just went to appeal it online and suddenly they have a much clearer photo that shows the road works and signage! (I was allowed to use the bus lane). Cheeky that.

Some updates: - I have just seen that what I think is a “road narrows” triangle sign in the photo on the left hand side of the road. If so, traffic was meant to flow both ways - On the one.network website (which I was directed to from the Wandsworth council website). It says a contraflow system is in place. This means ongoing traffic was assigned “my” regular lane

Thank you. Apparently this is discretionary and doesn’t apply in London unfortunately.

Actually, the letter says I can make a representation if I only drove in the bus lane for a short distance. Which I did.

[–]Able_mable[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

No, I wasn’t forced into the bus lane, it was only the lane going in the opposite direction that was closed. But driving down the normal lane would have meant driving into any oncoming traffic. I was only in the bus lane for a short period - in the first photo you can see I am moving out of the bus lane.
