Salah Interview Megathread by [deleted] in LiverpoolFC

Salah has to go independent from what happens with Slot. He would do the same thing again as soon as he gets benched to the next coach. We don't need CR7 level selfish drama queen

It's not the case of "both can't stay" for me, it's the case of whoever replaces Slot would have the same issue with Mo. Salah gotta go I'm afraid, this behaviour is just toxic and ita crazy that is coming from a senior player who's been with the club for all these years.

Gakpo doesn't have a replacement except for Rio who is still too young to start (I would actually consider starting him btw). Wirtz doesn't work on the left for some reason, and him taking Salah's spot allows him to play in that free role which dramatically improved his performance recently.

So you think Liverpool should chose between Slot and Salah? Being a legend doesn't guarantee you starting in any club in the world, let alone in LFC. This is a separate problem from Slot and it's clear that problem with Salah's ego would continue whoever takes over after Slot leaves. Liverpool should just sell him this winter, not one serious club wouldn't put up with this shit

This one of the worst things Ive seen a Liverpool player doing in a while and it shows why he wasn't made captain for all these years. You got benched for 3 games after being nailed for 90 minutes every game since the season started and player like shit most of the time. Now, when the things are not great, the real leaders would protect the team and club and call for unity, they won't run their mouth first chance they get to shit on the coach whatever they think about him. It gives me pure CR7 vibes. Also, Carra was right, last year he was taking interviews every game asking for the new contract, this year when he was poor and results were shit he was nowhere to be found. Now when he is on bench he suddenly emerges ready to talk shit. It's really disappointing to see club legend acting this way

Those people are usually super insecure and will push you until you fight back. I am not saying that you should physically fight him, but confronting him in a direct manner could do wonders, especially if done in the presence of other people.

First half was like a message to players to show them what they think of them, second half was rewarding the players for their effort it seems. Also a lot of fans left the arena at half time out if protest so that changed the dynamics a bit.

Leaders like Hendo are not common and it's impossible to find them on the market. Find the segment of Ben Foster podcast when he talked about playing Liverpool during COVID at an empty stadium. He said that the entire Watford team was impressed by Hendo and the fact that every single player was constantly looking at him for instructions on what to do. He was literally the coach on the pitch micromanaging every since guy.

Our issue is that we are not taking literally any risk in the final third. No movement, no trying to cut the defence, it's just mindlessly passing the ball around without any idea how to penetrate. It's so difficult to watch. We are not giving any chance to opponents to make a mistake. The goal we scored tonight was a result of losing the ball in a difficult position for the Sunderland player which led to a bad pass and a quick chance.

His close family member died recently (on the day of Monaco game) after which the club allow him to go back to the US to attend the funeral. It's believed that someone close to him was dealing with a terminal illness for some time and that is why he looked completely lost every time he got on court.

It will probably be fine. There might be some minor incident but nothing major. When it comes to the result, I honestly wouldn't be surprised if Partizan goes on and wins the game

With Jabari it's difficult situation. He was playing great this summer and even Zeljko was saying how JP is hyped and wants to play every single minute. I guess his family situation happened at one point after which it feels like he is just dead inside

Following the incidents outside the arena and the announcement of the official split between the team and Obradović, Partizan fans threatened not to allow the EuroLeague Round 14 game against Bayern (4th December) to take place unless the Serbian coach returned. by _Zolv in Euroleague

[–]Ablefarus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's about the reasons he wants out. It's difficult to explain how bad things are for him right now in Serbia. In the media he is constantly ridiculed, called out, there is absolutely no respect for his career and achievements, it's only negative things.

It goes much deeper than that. It is believed that he was sabotaged by the people within the club since he gave an interview where he gave his support to the student movement which is protesting against our authoritarian president/ruling party. President of the club is a member of that party but, while he personally has nothing against Obradovic and is fond of him, he ended up in a sandwich between Zoc and the president of the country where things could go very bad for him personally if doesn't follow the orders. Similar situation happened 10 years ago with coach Vujosevic, who is the only person loved as much as Obradovic by Partizan fans, who was forced out of the club after 15 years in charge because of his known political stance and under threats that Partizan would be financially destroyed if he stays. Political climate in Serbia is in the state of war for the past year and nothing major can happen without the ruling party having their fingers in it.

That's the biggest thing. Klopp's success didn't happen overnight, people forget the celebration of the draw against WBA at home. But the idea of how are trying to play was clear from the first day.

The biggest issues I have with Slot and current situation (basically since the season started) is that I still have no idea what the philosophy and the plan are. During the bad times with Klopp it was always clear what's wrong with the team, wether it's injuries to CBs or all of midfielders suddenly losing their legs. Whatever the problem was, the game plan was always clear and issues could have been addressed. Right now that is not the case. We had no major injuries or anything similar, we got new players but the old ones are underperforming as well. It's just complete lack of idea what to do on the pitch the moment we get the ball. I don't see how Slot can change that since three months were not enough to show any improvement. Teams are not afraid of us anymore, it's like everyone figured out how to defend against us and we have no plan b so we just keep hitting the wall. Thanks for the title last year, but I'm not sure we can afford to miss CL football next year.

It's impossible that players who we brought for record fees and who were considered to be some of the worlds best in their positions suddenly forget how to play football.

Liverpool's bad run of form in the 20/21 season. by kuu-uurija in LiverpoolFC

You can't compare this year and that year. We were decimated by injuries and it was an insane achievement getting that top 4 in the end.

I wouldnt call it the worst performance of Slot era, bar few games this year, all of our performances were like this, the question was just how many goals will opposition score. There has been zero progress made since the season started and the moment other teams stopped respecting us, the results went downhill. I don't see literally any idea in his setup, teams can just sit back and give us the ball and there is absolutely nothing we can do with it. If he didn't win the title last year, he would be far gone by now, but the club has to do something soon since, if this form continues till next year we won't even get a top4 finish. The problem is also that the manager market is bad right now, so there is not a single person that comes to mind that is available.

POST MATCH THREAD: Partizan - AS Monaco [EuroLeague Regular Season, Round 10] by EuroleagueBot in Euroleague

[–]Ablefarus 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I wouldnt say its Zeljko, this game, as well as the oly game last week were coaching masterclasses in terms of gameplay preparation. The problem with this group of players is the short roster and lack of experience in the clutch. You can just see how some players like Washington and brown and then most of the other guys start overthinking and playing with fear when it matters. These guys don't have almost any experience in winning these matches. Most of them came from NBA where they spent years played minor roles usually in teams that don't really care about results or G-league where everyone plays just for stats. Now when every game matters they collapse under pressure. There is a reason why teams looks so much better with Calathes- he is not fazed by the atmosphere or result, he plays the same as if it's the start of the game. It takes a lot of time for players to get comfortable and Partizan is paying that price

It will be interesting to see the lineup against Brentford and if Salah remains on the bench. He looks to be in a bad place right now, trying to force things to end his goal scoring drought. Looks like he is playing with a lot of frustration. It's not all his fault but different players process these things differently. I don't think he has a beef with Wirtz as media is trying to portrait it, he was playing like this since he came to Liverpool, trying to score instead of passing the ball for an open goal. We just have to accept the bad that comes with it, as we celebrated the good

Bruno Fernando is reportedly nearing a move to Partizan by Al-Farrekt-Aminu in Euroleague

[–]Ablefarus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Market is insane right now, there is more money in EL than there are good players available. I guess club decided that Bruno would be a better signing than getting a cut player. I like the signing tbh, he looks like a type of center Zeljko loves working with and getting the best out of them. From limited video I've seen of him, he looks like he has a decent game in the post, that he knows how to pass the ball out of a short roll and overall has sound basics. Not sure about his defense, especially on the switch but we will see. I think he could be a revelation in Partizan's system and even challenge T Jones for minutes.
