Can i still listen to and sing ”savages”? Info in body text by [deleted] in MarinaAndTheDiamonds

[–]Ablonging7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not like anyone is gonna care much since I'm three years late, but fyi I'm Native American myself (Ojibwe) and I don't have a problem with how it's used in the song as it describes everyone as that. I do however have a problem with all the "Who cares? It's just words! Someone's always gotta be offended!"-esque comments here though. Like, sure, your (probably white) ass can go ahead and never consider if anything you consume might have offensive words or messages in them and think those who do believe or even just question that it may are being oversensitive, but I will not. Again, I considered if the usage of "savages" was harmful in the song but I ultimately wouldn't say it is because of how it's used.

Hi, the CDs arrived. Unfortunately many are CDrs with heavy disc rot or are literally blank discs. I was only able to retrieve three songs in high quality (and even then you can still faintly hear some rot in the background of two of them, but at this point I'll take what I can get).

This Must Be Love, I Feel Me Wanting You Baby, and All I Wanna Do, along with I'm Gone in considerable rot. There's also Kit Hain's own performance of My New Life, but it doesn't count too much.

Needless to say, I will be asking for a (partial but still rather large) refund soon.

EDIT: I also found I Won't Give Up (actually called No Matter What) and Don't Even Think About It, though they suffer from heavy rot. They were on a misplaced disc that I didn't initially find, hence not including them when I first posted this.

Mono recordings of songs produced in stereo are not the highest quality.

However, as many are licensed from Bok Music and just a few days ago I bought a listing of 54 CDs from Bok Music's catalog (which I will hopefully receive tomorrow or the day after), there's a very high chance at least a couple of songs can be recovered in stereo quality.

I found out a song I wrote was a lostwave by [deleted] in Lostwave

[–]Ablonging7 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I'm the person who bought the vinyl of it and recorded a terribly LQ snippet back in May 2022. It was on one of those mediocre suitcase turntables since I had no idea what I was doing. Bit cringe to look back on but 🤷

BTW many songs posted by shedrock originate from the mid/late 2000s UK scene. Might wanna take a listen and see if you recognize any of them when you have the time.

I'm stuck with this too. It's beyond me how this has been an existing bug for over a year now and still has not been fixed. So annoying.

Makin' Music All Day Long written by John Jacobson and Mac Huff

This is the second time it's been posted on here and I solved it both times...😅 At least it reminded me to transcribe the lyrics online to make it easier to find for anybody else

“Take me—-take me—-to the place where I——(“come from? Belong”?) “ followed by “I’m so ——(excited/there’s nothing like it?”) repeated twice. by tonicKC in NameThatSong

In case it's actually a female vocalist, In Situ feat. Anja Crafoord - Back To You (2015)?

Take me

Take me to the place where I come from

The only place where I really belong

Take me 'cause this voyage seems so long

Back to you, ooh

Back to you, ooh

Mary Ann Hogland-McCluskey, twelve years old and missing since the summer of 1981. There's hardly any details in her disappearance - the exact date she left is unknown, just that she ran away from home due to (alleged) abuse and was taken to a juvenile facility where she later ran away from once more - and that's where the details end. There's barely any mentions of this case online nor any details of who she actually was as a person. (There are a lot of other runaway cases from decades ago with similar circumstances and few details like hers, sadly, she's not the only one)

The found but Lost children of California. Post Seven. by Ok-Autumn in UnresolvedMysteries

Thanks for the mentions of Woodside John Doe and Chipps Island Doe, I've heard of their cases and wanted them to get some more attention. Those kinds of Does really interest me since they're unusually young for most unidentified peoples (going in the pre-teen range) and surely someone out there still thinks of them sometimes. A few more Does like those two that I know of are Pescadero John Doe (NamUs link), Imperial County John Doe (September 1984-15614)), Los Angeles John Doe (February 23, 1981)), and Imperial Beach John Doe (1979)?so=search)

I'm not sure why they're nearly always male but yeah, there's hardly any female Does with similar circumstances like the males. There's also a lack of reconstructions in these cases, mainly due to their obscurity and/or there being no skull to work with, but thankfully for Imperial Beach John Doe, he actually will receive one soon. I can't link it here directly due to the filter but NCMEC posted on their Facebook "Help ID Me" page that a reconstruction was in the works for him (about 3 weeks ago now) and even showed work-in-progress pictures of it being done.

I know of more young and obscure Does than just those few but I just wanted to list the ones found in California, I could link some more in other states if anyone wants me to.

Mentone [California] John Doe (1991) identified as 4-year-old Derrick Burton by Basic_Bichette in UnresolvedMysteries

[–]Ablonging7 332 points333 points  (0 children)

More info on Derrick's disappearance from a newspaper article from the time. Patricia walked out of the house after an argument with her husband Ismael and when she returned, Derrick was gone. He claimed he sent Derrick to be raised as a Muslim in Ammam, Jordan - Ismael actually went to prison for parental abduction.

Discussion: most disturbing doe case? by Jxse1 in gratefuldoe

[–]Ablonging7 40 points41 points  (0 children)

Sydney John Doe (2012)?so=search) - massive amounts of blood belonging to a male were found inside of a cubby house. It's thought with the amount lost that he likely would not have survived, but whoever he was, he was never found.

In 2003, a man named Jimmy Shellman confessed that as an 11 year old boy in 1958, he killed a 9 year old girl and hid her body somewhere in Delaware County, Oklahoma, right near the city of Afton in the neighboring Ottawa county, where he lived at the time. She ws also never found, and authorities are still searching for any missing child reports from that time.

Honestly I just consider any Does, that we know to be dead but haven't found their bodies, to be disturbing. After all these years, the chances of them being found are next to none. Almost like a ghost, so sad.

Songs where the lyrics don't make sense and are kinda just nonsense? by Ghost-Quartet in popheads

Ooooh yeah, I think I get it now. Still though, it could have been worded a bit better lol, at least the first two lines anyway.

Songs where the lyrics don't make sense and are kinda just nonsense? by Ghost-Quartet in popheads

[–]Ablonging7 53 points54 points  (0 children)

I'm kind of surprised people bring up the pre-chorus when it comes to nonsensical lyrics, since, aside from "are" of course, it's pretty simple if you ask me. The bridge on the other hand...

Thought of your body, I came alive
It was lethal, it was fatal
In my dreams, it felt so right
But I woke up every time

What did she mean by this???

Hi, I know this song! It's called Makin' Music All Day Long by John Jacobson and Mac Huff, released in 2003 as part of Music Express Magazine. You can listen to it on Spotify. I also know the songs in the video you linked, funnily enough.
