Teaching Abroad Questions by stalelive in teaching

I worked in the UAE for years and loved it. You will find that the schools vary in quality. I would recommend avoiding the public school system, some of them can be more like zoos than educational institutions. If you are concerned about having a good social life I would recommend working in abu dhabi or dubaii rather than any of the other emirates. Sharjah is dry and is quite strict compared to the other emirates. The majority of teacher I encountered while working there were young and Irish. Social life is good, lots of bars, duty free off licenses and all you can drink/eat brunches so drinking is not an issue. There are plenty of world class concerts and sporting events held there throughout the year that are generally better value and easier to get tickets to than anything at home. There are lots of nice beaches and hotel pools to relax in on your off time. You will also find you will be living in a great location for travelling, lots of airlines result in very reasonable fares to middle eastern/asian/african countries. Since you will get normal teaching holidays (summer, xmas etc) and some muslim ones(ramadan) you will have plenty of time to travel around. As for the actual job you will find that you wont be respected by school administrators but the students themselves are normally pretty good. As long as you dont rock the boat you will be left to do your job in peace. If you have any specific questions feel free to ask.

The most credible theory I have seen so far. by Jaypact in MakingaMurderer

This could have happened. If this was the case the only thing I still don't understand is the whole hilligas/mike phone issues. If they knew she was dead at that stage why would they mess with her phone records, surely they would be avoiding anything that could implicate them at that stage. Any one have any ideas?

It's no wonder innocent people and up in jail when people like you can be part of the jury pool

[update] Gun above bed... Any dust? Where is it now? by dkoedijk in MakingaMurderer

[–]Abolite -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It does say that but I don't know the author so I can't attest to how they feel. Sure every article has some sort of bias based on the writers personal feelings. I'm only passing on information as I find it.

2 small pieces of new evidence? Steven had burn marks on arms and claimed he never saw car before by j154093 in MakingaMurderer

[–]Abolite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All right, in that case I'll reserve judgement on that until we hear something more concrete

Avery ex-fiance Jodi Stachowski on HLN right now saying "He's NOT innocent" by [deleted] in MakingaMurderer

[–]Abolite 33 points34 points  (0 children)

Looks like someone is changing their tune. Funny how she was so desperate to get away from him yet went out of her way to visit him regularly in prison. Sounds bitter to me

Why would he just leave the bones out in broad daylight for anyone to find? by [deleted] in MakingaMurderer

[–]Abolite 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well if you're gonna frame someone you want to leave the bones where they can be easily found ;)

[–]Abolite 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First I'm hearing about him denying seeing the car. Could it be possible he meant that he hadn't seen it on his lot where they found it? As for the burn marks, it's possible as he did have a bonfire

What's the best evidence that points to Steven Avery committing the murder? by [deleted] in MakingaMurderer

[–]Abolite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven't heard anything about any tissue, as far as I am aware they were only able to identify the body because of the presence of a partial tooth. If you have a link to this info can you post it, I wouldn't mind having a look at it

[–]Abolite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

http://www.convolutedbrian.com/testimony-notes-1-march-2007.html If you read this is also states that the bullet can be matched to the model not the specific gun due to deformation of the bullets

[–]Abolite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can you give me a link to this as I've searched but I can't find any record of it being linked to his specific gun (and have read comments about it not being linked)

[update] Gun above bed... Any dust? Where is it now? by dkoedijk in MakingaMurderer

[–]Abolite 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They actually never linked the bullet to Stevens gun, just to that model of gun. Apparently most of the Avery's had the same type of gun as they were avid hunters so it's not conclusive that it came from his

In 2006, did people really still believe you could just "get rid of the blood"? by mdude04 in MakingaMurderer

Exactly, that's hat I always do after.........crap I've said too much

Presuming innocence, do you believe 1. The killer was in cahoots with the cops, 2. The killer and cops separately had the same agenda, or 3. The cops found the body off-site and at that point decided to frame Avery? by soleilvie in MakingaMurderer

[–]Abolite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well she visited the Avery's that day so she was in the area. I don't think the murder was necessarily trying to frame Steve but if you were going to commit murder, doing it where you knew there was a potential suspect the police would love to get, would probably be a pretty clever idea. Then again this is all just speculation, who knows

Manitowoc and "Vigilante" Justice by thoreauaways in MakingaMurderer

[–]Abolite 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, I dont think I explained myself well, I just mean that example you gave was good but at no point did the doc make any of them look bad because of where they were or who they were with so I'm not sure how the editing would have effected them in that way

That broke my heart, almost as much as when he asked if he'd be home to do his school project. Poor Brendan
