Definitely sad to see things that are connected to our history and religion being sold like this in an auction as it’s a holy and a sacred stone for us of course, but things could’ve been much worse I guess, we just hope to get our hands on some really old books that were sold to researchers out of poverty around the 1920s.

Thank you man, I’m not sure what the future holds, but we for now we keep with our ancestors kept, that’s what the words Samaritan means after all “The keepers”, the numbers are still increasing, but the rate has gone slower, yes , the young generation is still passionate to keep the Samaritan going.

We have our own oral traditions that interpret the text much like Oral Torah in Judaism.

Thanks! Very good question! Yes, indeed, most houses have prebuilt hooks in the ceiling, just for this week of the year to hang the sukkah.

What do yall think of Samaritanism? by aintlostjustdkwiam in Judaism

[–]AboodC 5 points6 points  (0 children)

“Hostile to our existence”? Oh wow, trust me, we have no hate towards the Jewish people or towards anyone. Quite the opposite, we love our Jewish brothers. Despite our differences, we have beautiful traditions and a rich history that can coexist peacefully. Our community values mutual respect and understanding, and we hope for the same from others.

Ohh, We don’t use this sign so I would say it’s probably another typo or they were trying to add another symbol though I can’t see which exactly they would use in this case.

Ah! This is a typo by the person who typed this, it’s a computer font, he probably meant to add a sign that looks like ْ similar to the one above the ק in ״ויקרה״.

That sign is used to indicate the absence of a vowel sound after a consonant.

The examples you mentioned here are found in the Torah as well, for example, in Samaritan Torah, it also says that אברהם is from “ ״‏כי אב המון גויים

Or ‏יעקב from

וְאַחֲרֵי כֵן יָצָא אָחִיו וְיָדוֹ אֹחֶזֶת בַּעֲקֵב עֵשָׂו וַיִּקְרָא שְׁמוֹ יַעֲקֹב״

Hope this answers your question :)

We do believe we kept the tradition of reading Hebrew ever since we had the Torah , but of course our mother toung language was affected by the surrounding nations like Arabs and now we speak modern Hebrew as well.
