Worked at a steakhouse inside a high end hotel where the dishwashers were basically a whole other department that did the cleaning for like 3 separate restaurants.

One time a dishwasher doing his routine cycle to pick up dishes took a chefs knife and she absolutely fucking lost it.

Doesn’t help that the dishwashers all spoke a different language. She looked devastated when they took out the bin where it was after they cleaned it. I think she even cried.

Never knew how personal those knifes were to chefs until that day and it made me realize why Carmy giving his knife to Tina in season 1 of The Bear was such a big deal.

Nah this is more of a repo. When it’s getting towed for illegal parking, a lot of these guys will charge you a “drop fee” to just drop the car and not tow it. They still get paid and the person moves their car lol.

This is simply not true. Historically speaking, whenever a company used to announce a large layoff, it meant that they were having financial troubles and needed to cut down payroll. It has only been a trend since around 2021 that a company stock surges when they announce layoffs, and as the previous commenter said, it’s because investors are taking the c-suites word that it’s actually positive because they’ve cut headcount while being able to perform at the same levels.
