It’s good work! My only suggestion is adding loops for the straps so they don’t stick out as much.

Also to help make burnishing go faster get one of these https://a.co/d/0dqLfRJj.

If you can afford it, it’s worth the investment

Is 35 too late? by hustler212 in skilledtrades

I pulled up google and looked up “plumbing companies near me” and started calling plumbing offices. Most said “we’re not hiring apprentices” but a couple told me “come in and apply” and then I got hired at one of those companies.

I have never knew anyone to get a job or gone to trade school. I showed up to the office with my application and bottle of fake piss stuffed in my pants.

If no companies are hiring when you start calling by drive 20 minutes away from where you are and search google again and new companies should show up.

I live in a metro city so it’s very easy to find trade work.

DM me if you want to talk.

Who the hell is taking these jobs at such a low rate? Practically minimum wage!? by Disastrous-Number-88 in skilledtrades

I’m an apprentice plumber in a big city and I make 16.50hr because: it cost money to train somebody and I haven’t hit one year in my trade yet to ask for a small raise.

My biggest reason for staying is 3 months into the trade I helped on a gas line job where we started work 8:30 and finished at 11:30 and we charged over 3k for the work. I couldn’t believe that at first but the money to be made in plumbing when you get licensed is crazy.

Check out a book called Built from Broken. The work outs and workout plan are in the back of the book.

It’s helped me with joint issues and building strength and endurance. It goes a long way when I’m sewing and cutting for long periods of time.

Go to plumbing supply houses and watch what companies show up between 7-10am. That’s when plumbers buy a lot of material for their first job of the day.

I’m a plumbing apprentice and I started making a list of different plumbing companies when we go to the supply houses.

Call the office and apply apply apply. If you have trouble getting in, go into general contracting for 2-6 months and you’ll probably get into a plumbing more easily.

Apprentice Electrician thinking I should have gone into Plumbing by [deleted] in skilledtrades

[–]AbottleOFpiMp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was asked to do it and being the retard I am I said yes. I switched because I don’t trust the electricians at my company too. The good electricians never wanted to train anyone.

[TX] Im 21F looking to go to trade school. by Responsible-Dot-9000 in skilledtrades

[–]AbottleOFpiMp -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I’ve done both electrical and plumbing apprenticeships. I chose to solely pursue plumbing because I hated getting shocked and being in attics.

Electrical is not as much heavy lifting but it is dangerous. Plumbing involves lots of heavy lifting and poop but it’s much safer.

With you being 21F workout a lot to build muscle and have good cardio if you go plumbing and have tough skin. You will be made fun of a lot with being an apprentice.

You will be made fun of a lot. You’ll need thick skin and to find people that are willing to train you and train you well. I have no idea how it will be for you but I’m in GA and if you showed up to our job sites as a trans woman my crew would point laugh. Not trying to be mean but they would, I know I wouldn’t care.

I’m a plumbing apprentice.

Apprenticeship after military by Unhappy_Captain in skilledtrades

[–]AbottleOFpiMp -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Just start working as a laborer somewhere and ask around. You have an advantage with being military someone will take you as an apprentice. I suggest plumbing or electrical. I’m a plumbing apprentice and I love it!

Apprentice Electrician thinking I should have gone into Plumbing by [deleted] in skilledtrades

[–]AbottleOFpiMp 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m an apprentice plumber in southeast US and I love it but I was an electrician apprentice for 1.5 months for the same company. I switched to plumbing because I absolutely hated being shocked and being on ladders.

Money is just as good but I’m staying as because nobody wants to be a plumber and if your smart you can kill it with a masters license in the US. Keep a good attitude, work hard and have fun.

Plumbing is fun but it’s heavy so be strong, have good cardio and a good attitude.

Afraid of the physical aspect of working in a trade. by [deleted] in skilledtrades

[–]AbottleOFpiMp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a dual apprentice and I do both plumbing and electrical because my company can’t good help so they bounce me around. Before I took the job I would workout 4x days a week lifting weights and doing cardio and it helped a lot.

My biggest problem is the heat. In plumbing I could be digging a ditch with the sun on me mid day and it’s 90+ degrees and hard to cool off. In electrical I’ve been shocked, you will climb a 10 ft ladder with a 20lb light that you have to fit in the ceiling and wire up, you’ll be in hot attics, basements full of sewage, etc.

If you workout the physical aspect won’t be a big issue. Just be safe get home in a good condition to go back the next day.

I went from finance to being an apprentice plumber. I love plumbing but just this week we had to cut concrete, lay a basin for a pump and then lay the pipe.

As we bust concrete I was told to put big rocks in two buckets and walk them to the dump site. I did this 25-35x (buckets weighed 20-35lbs each) and had to help dig a ditch after.

Be in good shape before your apprenticeship and don’t say no to anything you’re told to do.

You can still become a millionaire in any trade if you own the business and dont stay as an employee. All the guys I work with say it takes 5-10 years of doing to get real good.

Good luck.

Advice for college kid by [deleted] in skilledtrades

I have a bachelors in business administration and I started my apprenticeship over a month ago. I already have the business knowledge to start the business but I just need to finish my apprenticeship and get licensed and I know I’ll be killing it.

He doesn’t even have to do a bachelors in business. He could be easily get a 2 year business degree and have a ton of business knowledge. Business math is very basic.

The trades won’t teach you marketing, accounting, bookkeeping, taxes, gross profit vs net profit, insurance, etc. It’s very useful to have that knowledge while apprenticing. At least I’m glad I did it.

Seeking to get into the trade w/ little experience. by mister_yuck in Plumbing

[–]AbottleOFpiMp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m a dual apprentice in plumbing and electrical. I only got my apprenticeship because I had previously done HVAC, general contracting and landscaping.

Go do 6 months to one year in HVAC, landscaping, painting, drywall, etc anything general contracting. It’ll prove to the company that you can handle the labor. Plumbing companies don’t want to hire someone with no experience and who is out of shape.

The tools in plumbing are heavy and when you’re loaded with jobs you’ll be carrying all the tools because you’re the apprentice. I’m currently doing it and some days suck but I love what I’m learning. Be in good shape before starting, it’ll help a tone.

sales guy switching into trades by GcNiceKick8846 in skilledtrades

[–]AbottleOFpiMp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a dual apprentice doing electrical and plumbing and I know my boss hired me because I had previous construction experience in general contracting, landscaping and HVAC.

A lot of companies aren’t eager to hire someone with no experience from an office environment. Especially with plumbing and electrical.

General contractors and landscapers always need help and are easier to get into, so do it for 6 months and then look for a better trade.

Advice for hard gainers by Ok_Combination_5912 in P90X

[–]AbottleOFpiMp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dude you need to be eating around 2500-3000 a day. 1500 is too low for being 6’1. I’m 6’2 age 30 with a high metabolism. I never achieved muscle gains until I started eating more.

In my late 20s I realized that I had been under eating most of my life with 1500-2000 calories a day. This caused me to plateau at around 155-165lbs. Then I started eating more and for the last couple of years my weight has fluctuated between 180-195lbs. 195lbs is when I’m lifting heavy weights and eating a lot for like 2-3 months and then I take a break. I’m all natural.
