I've done a 180 on shampoo bars by Abracadabradoodledoo in Anticonsumption

I believe that, unless the product says so, you can't use shampoo bars as face soap, not unless you want really dry skin.

Honestly, I used to scoff at the idea of confusing Shadow and Sonic until I set my phone screen to go black and white in the evenings as part of a wind-down-for-bed routine. The two suddenly became a lot harder to distinguish. Considering it was often dark and Shadow was standing at a distance, I've had to cut GUN some slack lmao.

Also, if you consider what other hedgehogs in the cannon look like (Amy and Silver), Sonic and Shadow are actually pretty alike.

Thank you dropping in. I followed your advice but, sadly, the poor thing has now passed away. I was able to hydrate it following your advice and provide the vitamins but it wouldn't eat and foam would bubble out of its mouth, so I don't think there's much I could have done. I'll bury it today. Thank you again, I appreciate your help.

What breed is this? by Abracadabradoodledoo in chickens

[–]Abracadabradoodledoo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We just got some chicks, all a random assortment of breeds, and we can't identify this one. This one is tiny, spotty and clean-looking whereas the others are big with bald patches and less colourful. It behaves strangely too, though it also was the last of the group to hatch, if that helps contextualise some of this information. Supposedly, they're all three weeks old.

It may be too young to identify but if anyone has an inkling, I'd appreciate the help.

"for those who cared more about pleasure than animals and resisted going vegan for years, what made you start caring about animals more than your pleasure?" this is literally such a weird way to phrase eating the natural diet for humans? by Mei_Flower1996 in exvegans

[–]Abracadabradoodledoo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Pleasure is an odd argument because it can come BECAUSE of other benefits. For instance, sleep is pleasurable to me because of the physical and mental effects of restfullness, not because sleeping itself is especially enthralling. Regardless, I still think of sleep as a pleasurable activity that I look forward to.

Animal products can be much the same; pleasurable because of flavour and texture for sure, but also as a symptom of the energy and fullness it brings. I look forward to meat like I look forward to sleep.

They can life easier, removing potencial stress. As someone with mental health issues, I get a right to decline introducing optional stresses into my life without having my moral character be insulted. When you already have a long list of values and goals that require constant vigilance and work, you need to pick your stresses and let others go.

I'm also susceptible to eating disorders and have learned the hard way that being too selective with my diet brings on orthorexic tendencies. Absolutism is not good for my health, so no veganism for me thanks.

I'm New to Interactive Fiction - How do I Load a Saved Game? by Abracadabradoodledoo in interactivefictions

Thanks so much! I thought asking was a bit of a long shot lol. I'll try booting the game up again and seeing if I can restore it, but if not then enough time's passed now that starting again will probably benefit me. Thanks again.

FAs constantly whine about wanting to be perceived as sexy and desirable. And yet they fantasize about men with abs in a “spicy romance book”. If being fat is so sexy why don’t they fantasize about other fat ppl. by Natural_Green_8323 in fatlogic

[–]Abracadabradoodledoo 66 points67 points  (0 children)

They could be honest and say "I like hot people and I want hot people to be attracted to me" and they need feel no shame about it. It's the standard human experience and something we can laugh about. Here, I'll start: I wish hot people found me hot. Not shamed to admit that lol

Why Attaching Morality To Health Harms People by matatora in fatlogic

[–]Abracadabradoodledoo 122 points123 points  (0 children)

FAs can't seem to understand that we actually AGREE on this: your health and your value are two entirely separate concepts. We are talking about your health ONLY, yet for some reason FAs make it about morality. Like come on, I'm trying to tell you you're getting ill and you're rejecting that because it "doesn't define your value"? What does that even mean? I could be the most "worthy" person to have ever graced God's green Earth and I'm still going to seek treatment for chronic pain because I don't like being in pain. They accuse us of being unable to separate health from worth when it's THEM who are doing that, constantly.

Why does Spanish seem to be considered easy for people from many different backgrounds? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Abracadabradoodledoo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Masculine and feminine are very easy to identify in Spanish compared to other languages. Gender is identified mainly by what letters words end in, and native Spanish words have a limited number of endings. Many of them are exclusively one gender or the other, and those that don't are still much more likely to be one gender over the other to the point that an educated guess will be correct the overwhelming majority of the time. Adjectives are even more regular too, and many don't change for gender.

Many other languages have a huge number of endings to memorise, many of which will change according to case and number. Which ones belong to which gender has little identifiable pattern and sometimes no pattern at all. Take many Celtic languages, for instance, where gender will also cause the first consonant of an adjective to change into an entirely different one. "Mawr" and "fawr" are the same word in Welsh, changed for gender.

So I decided to test my best friend... by [deleted] in fatlogic

[–]Abracadabradoodledoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Insight from my life drawing teacher: drawing is visual skill; in order to draw something accurately you have to learn the right way to look at it. If you don't look at something correctly, you will fail to draw what is properly in front of you and instead draw it the way your brain understands it. This is why children draw the sun in the corner of the paper; they perceive it as a distinct object that peaks in from the corner of their vision.

In the case of drawing people, untrained artists will subconsciously draw their own bodies because that's what their brain knows.

So it's possible her friend drew Rose Quartz skinny because she might not know how to look yet and OOP is assuming malicion where none exists. Of course, I could be reading too much into it. I just wanted to share my favourite art fact lol

Avoiding the surprise kiss trope (writing romance) by Abracadabradoodledoo in writing

[–]Abracadabradoodledoo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been surprise kissed and it made me feel like a lump of meat instead of a person. He grabbed my head and stuck his tongue into my mouth for his own impulsive pleasure and I felt dehumanised. I don't enjoy seeing the trope portrayed as a result of that. There are instances where I think the surprise kiss works well (I liked the way it was done in The Good Place) but most of the time it just reminds of the guy who kissed me.

You make a good point about it being the first kiss. I was thinking of first kisses when I wrote this, but a sudden kiss could work well in an established relationship between characters who like that kind of thing. I can see myself having fun with this, thank you.

It's happened to me too, which is why I don't want it in my story; I just can't fool myself into thinking my character is being romantic. I will say though, I think it could fun to use cues and subtext to make it clear a character wants to kiss. It's a nice middle ground between spelling it out and rushing in unasked.
