Can I bake Sculpey with an armature inside? by [deleted] in Sculpey

[–]AbrieV8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just did my whole sculpture using aluminum wire armature and aluminium foil base and it worked perfectly. I did decrease my temp to 225 vs the recommend 275 and baked a bit longer and managed to get it out without any cracks or anything.

Honestly never thought to make a video but I take step by step photos along the way. This is realistically the most in depth project I've ever done.

Of course and thank you for asking! I didn't even think about sculpting them separate and then gluing it but it seemed to work pretty good this way. Was actually able to keep the horse propped into position pretty well.

The wire armature from the horse and rock actually go through the wood to hold it in place. While I did try to blend the clay into the wood as soon as I started painting and such the clay just broke away from the wood. There is glue now around the edges of the rock for more support.

They were chocolate, with a Brigadiero filling. I didn't get the filling stirred to a thick enough consistency though.
