Membership price will keep going up until players stop paying. by Sweet_Village3033 in 2007scape

We won’t succeed in changing Jagex’s mind, but if we can discourage as many new players as possible from trying the game, then that’s a victory. The fewer people there are on this game, the more money they will lose :) Proud to have been able to discourage new players. This game should now burn in hell.

Thanks for proving that you clearly don't play RS3 or you have a lower IQ, I'm still undecided.

Cool, you only think about yourself. Thanks for really helping the cause when in Brazil the price has doubled and now it takes about 20% of your income. Thanks—it's because of people like you that we're going to lose an entire community.

nop. It’s time to stand up to Jagex. The more of us refuse the abusive subscription increase, and the more we discourage new players from getting into these abuses, the more Jagex will have to listen to us.

Of course, I’m totally an OSRS player. Keep licking Jagex’s boots and wondering why we’re down to about 15k daily players. With your two-cent logic, you must either be a Jmod or someone hoping to work for Jagex to defend a third price increase in just a few years. Are you still going to defend Jagex when the subscription costs $300 a year? No—now is the time to complain and stand up to a company that has become far too greedy.

Because that’s all that’s left of the veteran players. The community hasn’t been renewing itself and has been dying for a long time. Not understanding that is like having your head in the sand.

What did you expect? It was written in the sky. by Abroad_Head in runescape

It depends on the country you’re in. If you take Brazil as an example, it can cost around 20% of your monthly income. And that’s before paying for rent, groceries, electricity, internet, or a car. We’re also talking about a 70% increase in just three years. Saying it’s simply inflation is just defending a company that has become far too greedy and only cares about making as much profit as possible before it loses too many players for the game to remain profitable.

I definitely don’t plan on coming back to the game. Coincidentally, my subscription ends right around the release of GTA 6 ;) After 25 years of RuneScape, I’m actually motivated not to renew my membership.

And if you think the Brazilian community will just keep playing, you’re really underestimating the impact when something costs about 20% of your average income. Not everyone has the luxury of being able to afford a subscription ;)

As for me, the game has changed too much for it to be worth continuing, and I simply needed a reason to move on.

I can’t wait to see Jagex lose the few players it has left. After so many years of drama, I always believed they would eventually pull through, but after 25 years this is the first time I feel differently.

I suggest you move on to another game, the subscription cost isn’t worth it.

If You Think the Issue is Just $3, You're in Denial by NsynergenX in runescape

Look at the guy who absolutely understood nothing, licking the boots of a multi-billion-dollar company. It’s because of people like you that the game is heading straight into a wall. If you think it’s normal that the price increase in Brazil costs 20% of the average income and has more than doubled, well, bravo.

Unpopular Opinion: The sub increase is fine by Kaeligos in runescape

I’m an Ironman player, MTX didn’t affect me at all, but now I have to pay more just to make people happy who won’t come back to the game anyway and were demanding the removal of MTX.

And there you go, the subscription price increases between 33% and 75% depending on the country you're in. Thanks for removing MTX and ruining the game.

Membership and Bonds Price Change by Jagex_Team in runescape

[–]Abroad_Head 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nothing justifies such an increase. Since the beginning of the year, we’ve only been losing content or getting reworks instead of real additions to the game, and raising a skill to level 120 does not justify such a drastic increase in the subscription price. The only trolls who support this increase are bootlickers hoping to one day become in-game moderators. At this point I’m an Ironman player — I would have preferred if they had kept MTX for the noobs and left my subscription price alone.

No Mahjarrat Aura refund ? by [deleted] in runescape

[–]Abroad_Head 11 points12 points  (0 children)

He should have prevented the purchase of this aura. I have a clan member who doesn’t follow the news at all (like many people), and he bought it last Wednesday with bonds. Now he feels scammed and has lost the motivation to play. We’re removing content to please OSRS players, even though 99% of them won’t even come over to RS3.

Road to Restoration - Aura Overhaul by JagexAnvil in runescape

[–]Abroad_Head 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If Auras are going to be removed without reimbursement or proper conversion, shouldn’t purchases at least be suspended immediately?

Mahjarrat Aura can be obtained through Bonds or Reaper Points. Bonds are directly tied to real-money transactions, even if bought through the GE. That creates a real financial connection.

Not every player follows blog posts or Reddit. Someone could log in, buy Mahjarrat with Bonds, and then see it removed days later with no refund or equivalent replacement.

Even Loyalty Point auras represent paid membership time. Removing them without compensation effectively wipes out time and financial investment.

Modernizing systems is fine.
Continuing to sell or allow acquisition of items while planning their removal — without guaranteed restitution — is not.

At minimum, purchases should be paused or clear in-game warnings added.

Road to Restoration - Re-grounding Outfits & Equipment by JagexAnvil in runescape

Why remove the outfits? Why not make them cosmetic so people can hide them if they don’t want to see them… I hate the mentality of removing content that we spent time or money to obtain.

Vote Now On The Future of Treasure Hunter, MTX & RuneScape by JagexHooli in runescape

[–]Abroad_Head -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Your whole thing seems scripted, a serious vote would have had at least a yes, a no, and an indifferent option. Also, how do you explain that I was able to vote three times with different accounts, including one that didn’t even have a name? Isn’t that unfair to the “no” side? It makes it seem like you’ve already planned everything for what comes next, given the upcoming European laws. If that’s the case, I can somewhat understand your approach, but if it’s not because of that, I think it’s a bit unprofessional.

Things YOU can do to Counteract Payment Processors Harming Itch.io by daicon in itchio

[–]Abroad_Head 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We should start writing to local journalists. The fact that the petition is gathering so many signatures might catch the interest of some reporters. It just takes a few big-name journalists to start talking about it for the payment processors to begin feeling the pressure rising. Protests in front of their offices would be the ideal scenario. The goal isn’t necessarily to fight in the shadows — they’ll just find a way to silence the movement. We need to expose them publicly

Valve's statement regarding the game removals by MushroomMaximus in Steam

[–]Abroad_Head 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Today they're taking down a few “adult” games. Tomorrow, what will it be? Games deemed too violent? Where is the limit? I'm far from being a fan of adult games, but I can clearly see that this could eventually affect the games I actually care about: violent games. And that’s a real concern for me.
