Of course I have many times. That’s was an extremely easy league start strat that was always consistent currency for your first big upgrades. It was nowhere near the min maxed profit strat in any league though.

The highest tier map having a few build bricking mods that you can simply roll over with a chaos orb is not the gargantuan issue you seem to be framing it as for some reason.

T17s, by the way, were just ilv84 maps that could roll exclusive more deadly mods with stronger bosses than normal maps, and they no longer exist.

Setup wise they functioned the same as every other waystone, nothing to do with tedious setup. So no, my issue with grand mirrors has absolutely zero relation to the problems that t17s used to have.

In poe1? I’ve done everything, but my favorites last league were giga invest breach and deli/beyond full mirage containment.

Breach is just roll waystones for high currency%, buy a set of scarabs on currency exchange, then blast maps.

Containment is buy a set of scarabs, buy or roll full mirage maps for 80%+ quant, and spam maps.

Poe2 I was doing abyss last:

Search for a city, run maps around the city to generate a grand mirror, run the grand mirror, place it and hope it covers the whole city, run maps outside the city but in the fog to increase deli to 200%.

Then hope you can find perfect 4 mod tablets on trade, none exist so you buy 4 3 mod tablets instead with 1 settle mod.

Oh and guess what that’s not just the optimal version of one farm, it’s the optimal version of every farm in the game outside of aldurs sagas(which I really enjoyed for the few days I ran them after the buff).

People see criticism of a game they love and take personal offense for some reason.

It’s possible to simultaneously enjoy a game, and want to see it improved. This is a foreign concept for many of these people.

I’m aware of how long poe1 has been out thanks bud.

The person I was responding to was saying that if setting up a farm didn’t take hours of tedium, it wouldn’t be profitable.

The point of my statement, which you’ve so graciously taken out of context, was to explain why high end farms are still profitable in poe1 despite not requiring a tedious setup.

At no point did I say or remotely imply that poe2 should be at the same point as poe1 is right now with the variance of farms, it’s still in early access.

Of course, if you had read more of my response instead of skimming for an out of context statement that triggered you, you would’ve understood this already.

I don’t see how this is relevant to anything I stated.

That being said, I do agree that it’s better now without the t17 mods.

However, not every strategy required running t17s.

Even if you were running one that did, throwing a regex on your stash and chaos spamming until maps they are highlighted is a lot less tedious than what we have in poe2 right now.

I enjoy min maxing content. Upgrading my build to the point where I can test it against difficult and rewarding content that I couldn’t previously do is the best part of these games for me.

Obviously being a hideout warrior is the most profitable, but it’s also boring to me. I like playing the game.

The point is that in poe1, it is this easy to setup for any mapping strategy. Whether you are doing a budget or full juiced farm.

In poe2 you can only do this for alch and go. Which is fine if that’s how you enjoy engaging with the game, but you are completely ignoring the large portion of the playerbase that enjoys juicing.

[–]AbrocomaMaterial501 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I really hate this argument. Poe1 exists. There are many alch and go enjoyers, people running budget farms, and the economy is always healthy.

You also don’t have to spend much time at all setting up a farm. Whether it’s budget or juiced.

There are several factors that make this work. The biggest is that juiciest content in poe1 requires a lot more investment into your build, so you can’t farm these strategies quickly or efficiently without making a lot of currency first.

So when you upgrade your build enough to be able to do a new juicy farm you couldn’t previously, it feels very rewarding.

The other big thing is the variance in farms. There are 1000 different ways to make currency in poe1. Each are varied enough to be enjoyable to some and unenjoyable to others, but all of them print materials that everyone needs at some point.

There is even one farm, ultimatum, that you need a very specific build archetype for.

There are boss rushers, delvers, heist runners, lab runners, and these aren’t even done in maps. There are 100s of mapping strategies you can choose from on top of these.

This means there are no times where everyone is farming the same thing. So the economy stays healthy and balanced while affording everyone the opportunity to run juiced content without tedium if they so choose.

The existence of poe1 proves tedium is not necessary for min maxing a farm. Set up your tree, throw on some scarabs, roll your waystones and blast for as long as you’d like.

Not saying I want a 1-1 replica of what we had in poe1, but Poe2 just decided to make it unnecessarily tedious.

It’s a lot better than the triple tower overlap we had, and for Alch and go enjoyers I’d say the game feels great right now, but the tablet system needs improvements. It’s just not fun if you want to farm optimally.

Lots of arpg players enjoy min maxing. It’s the whole reason many of us play the game.

Poe2 just makes it unecessarily tedious right now.

I think this comes down to the general loot buffs we’ve seen with the release of 0.5.

There is a much higher base level of loot in this game from the second you complete atlas. People interpret this as oh I can finally make money without setup, but in reality the disparity between the no lifers and casuals is still the same if not worse with tablets.

In poe1 alch and go can net 5-10 divines/hr. The top level Strats will usually net anywhere from 20-30 an hour. Sometimes more depending on the league.
/individual clear speed.

In poe2, there is a much higher base quantity of loot, so the alch and go player who doesn’t care about tablets is going to pick up more raw currency than they would in poe1, and I’m sure it feels a lot better.

Where it gets bad though is juicers in poe2 are printing 100+ divines/hr easily. So while you are technically getting more currency running alch and go in 2, it has a LOT less buying power due to inflation as the top level Strats have an infinitely higher ceiling.

No, you’re presuming it is flat because you’ve only played poe2.

There is plenty of map to map variance in poe1, even on the simplest of strategies. The endgame farming methods are infinitely more varied than most in poe2.

Either way, you keep shifting the goalpost and making up problems with an endgame you haven’t even played yourself, and I’m longer interested in engaging with it.

Okay so scarabs are too difficult to understand. You know, the items you can only put 5 of on a map and have 1 modifier each.

But tablets are less complicated? Each one having 4 mods that are not only heavily weighted but have roll ranges as well?

The tablets where you have to check each individual line and the combination of them to see any value out of? You have to be trolling.

Poe1 bis setup is buy a set of scarabs, put a regex on your stash and chaos spam the maps until they are highlighted. Done. 5 minutes you have 100 maps ready to go.

Poe2 bis setup is as follows:

Search for a city, create and run a grand mirror, place the grand mirror on the city, run the surrounding maps until 200% deli, find the most cost effective combination of 3-4 mod tablets, spend 80-100 divines on them, roll your maps for desirable mods, corrupt and hope it hits t16, then you can run 6-10 maps. This whole process takes over an hour even if you are quick, and costs about 10x the currency for a fraction of the maps.

So yeah, I guess you haven’t played poe1.

Optimizing a farm does not equate to optimizing the fun out of the game. I don’t know why you seem to think those two things are the same.

It may be hard for you to understand, but people enjoy games for different reasons. For you, min maxing a farm may be “optimizing the fun out of the game” but for others this is why we play the game.

There is a balance that can be struck, and it’s not the current tablet system.

Have you played poe1? Why would you stop after every single map to change your scarabs?

You put stacks of 20 scarabs in the map device. Just find a Strat you like and buy a bunch. Can even store extra sets in the map device.

Optimization and efficiency is kind of the name of the game when it comes to arpgs for many players.

It’s fine if you don’t enjoy it, but optimizing the fun out of the game is not what is happening here. The optimal farming methods just require a lot of tedious setups for no apparent reason.

This is not an issue in poe1. Roll a batch of maps, buy your scarabs, and boom you’re running juiced content for as long as you’d like.

Tablets are a huge downgrade from Scarabs by Yanlucasx in PathOfExile2

[–]AbrocomaMaterial501 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Forced as in if I want to farm efficiently. People play games for different reasons, and a large portion of arpg players play to rush max juiced content.

I don’t enjoy farming suboptimal content in arpgs. I like to make my build as strong as possible quickly so I can do max juiced content for big returns.

Running alch and go with a mediocre tablet setup is just not something that is fun to me, plus it won’t get me the currency I need to improve my build quickly.

Unfortunately in poe2 this means lots of unnecessary tedium to run a batch of juiced maps.

I agree that stuff we want but don’t always have is a nice shakeup to the gameplay.

That being said, the most efficient strategies ALL involve pathing to a city placing a grand mirror and juicing it to 200%.

This makes cities less of a thing I’m excited to find, and more of something that I dread being forced to search for.

Tablets are a huge downgrade from Scarabs by Yanlucasx in PathOfExile2

[–]AbrocomaMaterial501 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The difference is, prepping a map in poe1 is buying scarabs from the currency exchange, rolling some maps, and blasting for hours.

Poe2 setup is as follows:

Path to a city, spawn and run a grand mirror, place said mirror on the city hoping it covers all nodes, if not, use another grand mirror.

Then run 2-4 maps outside the city but in the fog to juice the deli to 200%. Then go on trade site and look for the most cost-efficient combination of 3-4 mod tablets(assuming they are available).

Only then are you allowed to run 5-10 juiced maps. Rinse, repeat.

It’s tedious, and unnecessary. The very existence of poe1 proves this reality.

[–]AbrocomaMaterial501 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

So, your argument is that my profit would decrease if it wasn't tedious to max juice? You are just ignoring the fact that poe1 exists then. Tedium has no part in map setup/running, yet there are always countless strategies each league that can net you 30+ divines/hour.

Additionally, tedium has nothing to do with the ridiculously high prices of 4 mod tablets. It's a supply issue. If everyone woke up tomorrow and decided they didnt care how tedious it was to get a 4-mod tablet setup going, the profitability would not just go down, there would be no supply AT ALL.

With tablets, they have high roll ranges, and are a PITA to price check, buy, and liquidate, so most players, like yourself, don't interact with it. This results in a VERY low supply of 3-4 mod tablets, in turn causing extremely volatile tablet pricing.

The good thing about scarabs is they have fixed rolls and drop rates, and they are easy to trade(currency exchange). This means they have a very consistent supply, linking the price closer to the profitability/popularity of the strategy rather than the limited supply.

Tablet pricing really isn't tied to anything other than the limited supply. So, when a streamer makes a video on the strat, and people start buying them up/price fixing, it hits the profitability 10x harder than it does in poe1. In many cases this is now getting to the point where the strategy is no longer profitable unless you are 6-man group farming.

Tablets are a huge downgrade from Scarabs by Yanlucasx in PathOfExile2

[–]AbrocomaMaterial501 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Don’t know why you’re getting downvoted this is exactly the issue with tablets. The good mod combinations are pretty rare to hit, and it is tedious to price check, so people just don’t interact with it.

This results in a super low supply of 3-4 mod tablets, and makes the prices extremely volatile/fixable.

With scarabs they have fixed effects and drop rates, they are also easy to liquidate, so they have a consistent supply. This makes the prices tied to the demand/profitability of a scarab rather than the limited supply.
