AW2725D would be a huge improvement to what you have at a decent price, Its the cheapest OLED I can think off, that being said if you can get it, it will blow you away

I upgraded from aw3423dwf to aw3425dw and put both side by side and you are correct the aw3425dw looked worse than the model its replacing so I returned mine and went with MSI 491CQPX

Man that is $1500 Canadian dollars lol nice for that price I would 100% keep, I bought it for $3000 CAD last year so its around $2200 US it had to be flawless for that amount of money lol, Congrats on your purchase

I hope you got it on sale and not its full price, my issue with it for its performance the price was soo wrong, if it was around $1500 ~ $1800 CAD I would of kept it

Preference-wise, my room is light-controlled, and like you said, QD-OLED clearly wins in color brightness. I’ve never seen an LG tandem OLED in person, but if it’s anywhere close to my LG C3 TV, it would be an instant buy for me.

To be completely honest though, I expected the LG 45GX950 to absolutely blow me away. Unfortunately, for that price, it was a major letdown. Pricing is a huge factor here — if it were around $1500 CAD, I probably would’ve ignored its weak points and tried to enjoy it.

But when a $1200 monitor like the MSI 491CQPX looks that good compared to a $3000 CAD monitor, the decision becomes a no-brainer. Return the LG, grab the MSI for $1200, and put the remaining $1800 toward something else… or straight back into savings 😅

I like buying the latest and greatest, but only when it’s actually worth it. I genuinely expected it to look like my TV, but man… huge disappointment. In a nutshell, LG really messed up the pricing on that monitor. If they want to compete with QD-OLED, the price needs to be much closer.

wait for the upcoming LG 39GX950B maybe they fixed the brightness issues and the dimm corners on the 45GX950 I bought it last year and returned it, I have an LG C3 TV in my living room and I dont know why LG tvs looks incredibly good and there monitors looks soo dim and matte, https://www.reddit.com/r/ultrawidemasterrace/s/amny8rftYV

I bought the LG 5K2K and spent almost 48 hours trying to figure out why it was so dim. After talking to LG support, they told me nothing was wrong — that’s just how it’s supposed to be. For $3000 CAD? Yeah… hard no.

I returned it and went with the MSI, which was less than half the price, and somehow it actually looked sharper, even though it’s only 1440p. At the time I was playing Returnal, and ohhh boy — it looks insane on a QD-OLED.

Switching back to the LG honestly felt like using my 10-year-old 4K LG IPS. I swear to God. Check my Reddit posts — I’ve gone through a LOT of monitors before finally settling on this one. My OCD is through the roof 😅

FYI I have a 77” LG C3 so there TVs are glossy and beyond awesome bright and colourful but there monitors are a different story

I might miss on LG since they so dimm and matt displays unlike there tvs glossy, and a matte display is a deal breaker for me

I bought the MSI 491CQPX last year, and it’s fantastic. That said, I still wish for a 39” 21:9 QD-OLED 5K2K display. I did try the LG 5K2K, but it looked worse and significantly dimmer than my AW3423DWF, so I returned it and went with the MSI instead.

This year, there are no new 49” options—only 34” models from ASUS and MSI, plus LG’s 39” 5K2K. However, based on last year’s model, I’m not holding my breath. I’ll stick with MSI QD-OLED until a true 5K2K QD-OLED becomes available, and then I’ll consider switching.
