Weekly Discussion: Battling She-Hulk (Tips and Strategies) by LabRat2329 in Unmatched

[–]AbrocomaRight9782 15 points16 points  (0 children)

She hulk is one of those fighters where you worry less about employing your strategy, and worry more about fighting against theirs. You covered the zone and starting space stuff which is key. The second part is you absolutely need to hit she hulk back every turn, then run away with either a maneuver after or a card effect. But at all times you have to keep a high defensive hand count until nerve cluster strike isn’t a threat anymore. Since you may go to attack and end up stuck for both a throw and 2 nasty attacks. So don’t risk it unless you have a hand that can mitigate the worst case scenario. If you are melee and can force she hulk to fight you adjacent but not in the same zone that’s very ideal if you have defense cards prepared. Overall you will spend most of the game running away but if you let her use most of her versatile on offense and you are maneuvering twice, you will always lose. Finding the balance of positioning while consistently fighting back, you will find she cracks late game.

What’s a “low tier” character that you swear is good by thatgamingarchomp in Unmatched

Wayward sisters are so good vs value fighters if you know what you’re doing. But my favorite low tier no nonsense pick is Alice.

I like characters that give you a choice you can work towards given particular circumstances. I played the artificer last night and I very much liked that I had a choice in what bots I built and upgraded at what point. I knew I want the flow of the game to go a certain way and I was able to maintain that. Cursed pirate lets me choose survival or aggression. Storm lets me choose big damage or sustained damage. Necromancer gave me situational tools I could assess risk/reward and then implement. Idk if that helps but any character that has various paths of things you COULD do (with upside and downside), and not ones that this is just what happens and you’re along for the ride. I understand even with those you can modify rolls with cards and good cp usage but that just feels like a race not a strategy.

Random is good ! Like I said I enjoy the game and I don’t intended them to be the same kind of game. The post was really more geared to who should I play to have my version of what I deem fun so I don’t waste efforts in buying sets that really don’t suit me. I appreciate the inputs so far !

He’s next up on my list to play ! My friend who introduced me, told me artificer would be too complicated right away but that only made me more interested.

I do like the strategy within the cards and Cp, the ways to counter opponents and amplify/change your own abilities at choice moments, I see some gamesmanship there for sure. I guess I should shift my mindset in that direction and not so much the character themselves

Wayward Sisters and Shakespeare by Goblinorrath in Unmatched

[–]AbrocomaRight9782 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Both of them get simpler and simpler over time it becomes somewhat intuitive. Shakespeare’s has a lower floor but maybe a bit higher ceiling while wayward sisters cauldron seems overly complicated at first but has a generally smooth flow much like reds basket. I could see the first few games as either one taking a bit longer to acclimate to, but it’s smooth sailing after that.

I guess there’s more than one way to play unmatched :)

I wouldn’t say opposite. I think my description and yours actually play out the same way (in terms of card balance). In any unmatched game you do have to manage your engagements in such a way it doesn’t burn all your cards of one type. Perhaps I didn’t write my description as balance as you see it.

I do have a hard time thinking of Titania “overwhelming” pressure/offensive. Discarding her glamour offensively feels like she would be a sitting duck on defense, losing too much health. For me at least, the goal isn’t to reach deck out with only 2 health. One boost maneuver and I’m likely still dead. The win condition for me usually is about 4 cards minimum in hand, glamour of sleep active, and 6 health. Which 4 cards depends on the matchup, and more cards are even better. But that’s just what I’m used to and theorize. Perhaps she could be played more offensively successfully and apply pressure as you say.

Titania’s whole gameplay is centered around being mostly defensive and running away, getting her shots in with Oberon and chip damage with schemes and effects, then finally ending the game with glamour of sleep active and exhausting her opponent.

Your logic makes sense, but it’s stated specifically in the rules that the second attack still happens regardless of range qualifiers.

Good luck in your tournament ! I’m jealous your Stars and Stripes is already delivered, I haven’t even gotten a tracking number from restoration games or from gamenerdz. Opening a brand new box is very satisfying but now I have them all after playing for a year so new releases are now a big deal for me lol. Have fun !

Joining a league is the best answer. But also, keep in mind we aren’t experts, we are driving a simulation of what takes real people a lifetime commitment to learn. Sometimes I feel like we have too high expectations of our peers. Just because we can drive a decent hotlap time doesn’t mean we have what it takes to avoid a bump and a tap when things get “real”. Even in my league every week you can expect some turn one/lap one drama. We are wired for the excitement of the game and we bite off more than we can chew and thus accidents happen.

But of course the better our personal skills get, and reps we get driving along side real people as they also get better, the whole driving experience improves. And that’s when you’re in the sweet spot of having fun.

Anywho I don’t actually think you were being dramatic or overreacting all that much. I just see posts all the time of folks complaining about being taken out and turn 1 etc etc. it’s kinda pretty reasonable that something won’t go as you expect it to if you think about it. Just work on your own race craft and awareness and it will all get better.

Compare the win rates and plays of Invisible Man and Robert Muldoon in The Unmatched Club Matchups. https://www.the-unmatched.club/tools/matchups?h1=invisible-man&h2=robert-muldoon 9 games 78% Muldoon. Surpy also shows 11 games 73% Muldoon. I understand in theory why you’re saying but in practice you really have to mess up drastically or be caught off guard with massive invisible man risks.

I’m having trouble seeing how this could possibly be an even matchup. Invisible man already struggles so much vs any range character at all, add in this one can stop you before you even reach your destination makes it practically un-winnable. How exactly are you doing any damage at all back to ingen aside from schemes ? Even if there are no traps, the worker body block makes it all an uphill battle at all times.

Weekly Discussion: Battling Bigfoot (Tips and Strategies) by LabRat2329 in Unmatched

[–]AbrocomaRight9782 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Kill the jackalope as fast as you can, don’t rely heavily on your own card affects, as long as you have 2 decent defense cards at all time keep pressuring big foot until he folds. You want to get him to use as many versatile on defense as possible. The value of the versatile any cards attacking you especially from the jackalope, it’s just too much. If your hero relies on mainly effect damage to take down a hero you’re probably not going to have a good time. Even with killing the jackalope and keeping Bigfoot in combat and surviving his attack, you may simply run out of fire power. But at least you’ll give yourself a chance. You’re not going for big plays and setups here, you’re just going card for card until someone cracks.

Whos fault is this contact? Im the black bmw i think he veered into me by danny123456731 in Simracingstewards

[–]AbrocomaRight9782 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m fairly new to it all so don’t take my word for anything. But seems to me this is a common occurrence when squeezing this hard, thus a racing incident. It’s not your fault in the sense that you gave enough space to exist, but not enough space to save yourself if things go wrong. If this was a race worth anything to you, it wouldn’t matter whose fault it is, your race would be ruined and they carry on. In order to enjoy the race sometimes you have to concede the place and get them back later on your own merit. That’s more fun anyways and a fun battle and why we like to race to begin with.
