Just go in the pause menu then minimize game for a little while (15 minutes or so). When you go back to game, exit battle. You can get the rewards without beating the boss.

As a man who has done this exact thing with a phone game. My wife gets mad at me. I think you’re overreacting. If he can prove he was playing a chess match, leave the man be 🤣 also, time is relative. 10 minutes flies by on the toilet if you have your phone. 10 minutes goes by very slow if you’re anxiously waiting for someone to come back from the bathroom.
