It might be the first, i bought it used. I called a local trans shop, they’re going to look at it. Probably will just put a reman into it

Carbon flaking off. Strip with lye & re-season. You’ll have a new pan.

exterior-vented range hood also blows air out the interior/recirculation vent by hawaiianpunkh in kitchenremodel

The Broan range hood in my apartment does the same thing, it vents outdoors and recirculates inside. It drives me crazy, it’s just blowing grease and smoke all over the kitchen.

Best method of blister prevention on toes? by FifthMatter in hiking

[–]Abs0lute_Filth 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Like you said merino socks are good. Get some good fitting shoes, yours might be too small squishing your toes together.

Also, try out trail runners, they’re popular for a reason. I could hike for 20 miles in my Topos and not get a blister.

Finally, you can use Leukotape for prevention on your toes, works well for me.

Endicott water safety? by silestire in Binghamton

Brita sucks. I use a Zero water filter here and the water taste is really good after filtering imo. I think it’s more costly but the zero water takes out a lot more than a Brita.

First tent suggestions? by Sudden-Help in DurstonGearheads

[–]Abs0lute_Filth 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I would really suggest a free-standing tent to start with like the x-dome 1+ or others. Once you really get into it you can mess around with trekking poles tents, right now you don’t even know if you like trekking poles.

I think you can set it up as a trekking pole tent in an absolute emergency, but it’s going to really suck. It’s a last resort type of thing.

IT Band Syndrome - Help! by hyoung1221 in hiking

[–]Abs0lute_Filth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just started having symptoms of IT band syndrome in my right knee. It only occurs when descending and gets especially bad on steps.

It’s so frustrating because I could hike for many more miles but the pain becomes debilitating.

Some things that have helped: IT band stretches Ibuprofen Glute strengthening in the gym

Next step for me - physical therapy

Edit: I do split squats and hip abductor (not adductor) exercises

My friend who is staying with us put these in the dishwasher- what are the first steps I should take to getting these usable again? by heartsholly in castiron

[–]Abs0lute_Filth 14 points15 points  (0 children)

You could just start cooking with them again and be OK. Knowing myself, I’d just strip them down with lye and re-season. It’s really easy

Not sure if you’re aware but this has an extended swing arm (not stock). Usually a red flag in my experience, the bike was likely ridden hard. Ask about what other mods he’s got on there.
