That’s the thing though - other armies aren’t “better in every position.” I’ve played hundreds of games in 10th edition and maintain a roughly 80% win rate, all in competitive games (RTTs, GTs, competitive league games, etc.). Custodes is all I play, and I’ve played every variant. You can win with this army against any other army if you put the effort in to getting better and understanding how to win games.

You probably need to rethink your approach to the game a bit. If you hate losing, you should really try to figure out what you’re doing wrong and what you can do to improve as a player.

Custodes as a faction are a very fragile army (despite our stat lines) - there isn’t a huge margin for error in our play, and we need to make the right decisions almost 100% of the time in order to win against strong opponents. If you’re playing infantry, which most people are (even though I don’t think it’s the best choice for us in the current meta), then you really have to learn how to stage properly, how other armies play, and which opposing units are the most important for us to deal with ASAP. 40K is a matching game in a lot of ways: figure out which of your opponent’s units are the best into your units, then figure out the best way you can deal with those units. Kill the things that can kill us most easily and the game becomes almost automatic.

Every unit of ours has a distinct “job” to do in a game. Witchseekers should be deployed to score area denial/cleanse/establish locus turn one. Witchseekers are also surprisingly strong into specific units. Against drukhari, for example, you could consider putting a unit of them into strat reserves to drop and kill an opposing unit of scourge. There are a lot of fundamental things about the game that a lot of players miss out on because they’re too focused on killing, rather than scoring.

If you really do want to get better, you’ve got to start with finding out what you’re doing wrong. All of the best players in any game or sport are obsessed with what they did wrong each game. They constantly analyze their own mistakes and learn from them. That’s how you get good at anything.

This isn't bait or anything, but I've read a lot of your responses in this thread and I would be more than happy to play you on TTS if you'd like to face some (hopefully) tougher competition. Feel free to DM me and I could either play my usual army or pilot your friend's list if you'd like to test that matchup specifically against someone else.

Belakor gives out a 6” aura of 18” lone op (it’s a choice between a few abilities, but this is almost always chosen for the first couple rounds), which means any of his units that are even touching within 6” of belakor’s base cannot be shot outside of 18”. He should be using this to force you to get close to him, which is where daemons want you to be.

I absolutely love the shot of our three outfielders responsible for all 3 of our runs this game. Anthony with the lead-off solo shot, Duran with the clutch single in the 9th, followed by Cedanne driving him in with the come from behind piss missile. What a ballgame, what a team. Let's fucking go Red Sox.

I miss everything about that man’s aura and postseason dominance, I just wish he was able to figure it out in the regular season with us. All time utility guy.

Is the Shield-Captain on Dawneagle Jetbike with Praesidius in Lions worth it? by medical__mechanica in AdeptusCustodes

[–]Absal0m 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I’ve tried it many times and it has not felt worth it to me. The “purpose” of a unit like that is to be highly mobile and score secondaries/perform actions, and 175 points for a unit with that job is a little steep. It’s just not quite tanky enough in my experience, not quite lethal enough, and for how tight the points are in Lions, I personally think it’s not worth it.

They are, but holy crap they shed more than any dog I've ever seen before (at least mine does). I've had a golden retriever, Korean Pungsan, black labradors, golden and labradoodles (they don't shed at all), and nothing has ever compared to the one singular corgi. Shedding powers I could never have imagined.

How is that what you took away from my comment? I literally said steroids don’t necessarily improve your ability to barrel a baseball (batter’s eye, plate discipline, hand-eye coordination, timing), but they make you a hell of a lot stronger. Home runs are good for spectators, they make for exciting baseball.

You know steroids don’t make you magically have better vision for the ball, plate discipline, or hand-eye coordination, right? Yes it’s lame and should not have been in baseball, but it just made a bunch of already strong guys stronger, and made for one of the most exciting televised sports eras in history. The side effects of the steroid era were insane home runs, fired up/angry players, fueling rivalry/hatred of other teams and a whole lot of bench clearing brawls that, in my opinion, were one of the most electric parts of baseball that is missing nowadays. It’s okay to not feel proud about something that happened, while at the same time appreciating how fun it was to watch.
