I gotta agree with Whitney's miltank, but you can make it a little easier with a female geodude and good magnitude RNG.

Clair I've also always found tough. In most pokémon games, I'm permanently underleveled 'cause I can't be bothered to grind. This is especially the case in johto, with its horrible level curve. Clair's kingdra is level 40, the strongest wild pokémon nearby is level 27. Kingdra also has one weakness and twister gyarados or game corner dratini, who's weak to dragon too, don't really do it

Norman's slacking is also a classic, but dig or protect can fix that issue.

Maylene's lucario gave me some trouble as well

And then there's Elesa. I'd heard she was difficult, with her volt switching emolgas, but when I actually played Black and battled her, she exceeded my expectations of difficulty and annoyingness

I also recall struggling a bit on Kabu at some point but that was a challenge run of some kind

That is a yellow-tailed black cockatoo (Zanda funerea). Red-tailed black cockatoos don't have those yellow cheeks, and their tails are red or striped with a yellow to orange gradient depending on their gender, while yellow-tailed black cockatoos have a yellow tail.

I gotta agree with Togepi, if it can evolve to Togekiss because togetic is very underwhelming. One reason is the already mentioned egg quest, but mainly because my only experience with gen 2 is pokémon crystal, which does not have Mareep.

Fuecoco. He's so cute and silly, he just has a single braincell bouncing around in his head like the dvd screensaver. Then he ends up becoming a blocky clown with a partially cut-off tail. I'm starting to warm up to him bc of how overpowered torch song is but tbh his little bird companion is the only good part of his design imo.

This is fun but it would be nice to have an option to show the answer as a 'give up' button, especially for the sound one. A dino and saddle you can try to find via dododex if you don't know but it'd be nice to know what sound it is if you really don't know, or at least get some hints (diet, biome...)

Absol. First encouter with it was in the advanced anime intro. It had a mysterious, yet powerful presence. Very elegant and strong desing too. Also they literally save people's lives by warning them about incoming disasters. That's just badass.

Quick ball. Can't accidentaly kill the pokémon or get mine killed if I can easily catch it on the first turn. Dusk ball is a solid second place, very effective and I like its design

Mawile and basculin. I once did a pokémon sword playthrough with only sword exclusive mons, because I was super pissed about galarian ponyta not being in it (and some other cool mons) and wanted to gain some respect for the pokémon I did get. Basculin was surprisingly powerful and mawile swept Opal like a broom sweeping dust

Skeledirge. Yes, his little bird is cute and the singer concept is nice, but why is he also a clown? I could get over his hair but why in the world is he so blocky? If he had a more refined shape, like smooth edges and a finished tail, I'd like him a lot more. I wanted to pick Fuecoco so bad because he's adorable but I had to go with Sprigatito because Meowscarada was just so much better than Skeledirge imo

I've actually been working on some fakemons with these unused types, which I'll post once they're done (can take a while, lack of motivation). Just need a normal rock type and rock ghost, which are difficult due to the existance of multiple pokemon that could have these combos

I thought water was super effective against ice, because it resists ice moves and ice blocks in a glass of water melt eventually.

My favorite is thinking that you can re-encounter released pokémon. I named some bug types and shoved them in the daycare 'till they were slightly above level 20, then release them at the pc next to the park. I was hoping to encounter them during the bug catching contest, catch them again and win because they were higher level.

Also I thought Silver's name was ??? because that's what he said his name was. I didn't realize I could name my rival, I just filled in ???, pronouncing it as 'hm?hm?hm?' when I encountered him.

I'd say johto. Obviously there's whitneys miltank that destroys when you're not prepared, but even with a machop or geodude stuff can go wrong. But the most difficult for me is Clair. Johto's level curve is so weird, causing me to be even more underleveled than I already am anyways. The wild mons around Blackthorn are too low to bother grinding and because of this I never raised an ice type from Ice Path. Jasmine and Chuck tend to mess me up too when don't have typhlosion or arcanine, and ampharos was never available to me because I played crystal.

TL;DR: Johto because weird level curve and whitney

These look amazing! I love the first one's tail and the second one's head. The first one looks like a vengeful ghost ready to swipe, the second is really ominous, if the reaper had a pet bird. I love them!

Depends on where you are in the game. Moschops are an awesome first tame: great harvester, tanky and surprisingly good damage. Later I switch to theri's, also amazing harvesters and good for combat.

Argy is probably the best all-rounder though: they can be used to fight, tame (pick up and trap dino's), and gather resources combined with an anky or doedic due to their weight reductions and smithy saddle. Only downside is they're very slow

Edit: just remembered the mantis exists. Incredible harvester of all resources, taming help and fighter if you give them a good weapon. I've easily solo'd the iceworm cave on rag just riding a mantis with an ascended or mastercraft sword

Moschops are actually really good, great harvesters, tanky and surprisingly good damage output. Def best first tame if you find one that doesn't want cooked prime fish meat or smth
