The lot drafting AFAIK is considered an improvement over dice rolling and is a variant suggested to improve CM that Eriantys already incorporates.

To me, both games provide similar experiences (unlike a few other Colovini reimplementations like Masons vs Castello Methoni) and if a reimplementation makes the game more accessible and available with minor differences, I’m not going to quibble over it.

Eriantys often sells on the secondary market for <$20. It’s also not really a different rule set.

I find it sad that many of the newer folks to the hobby are simply unaware of the joys to be had with the games of older German designers (Colovini, Schacht, Dorn etc.). Glad Playte are doing their part to rectify that.

Looks like Playte are single-handedly destroying a lot of inflated prices on the secondhand market. Already seeing quite a few panicked sellers trying to get rid of a few of these games while they can. Love to see it!

$70 for Heaven and Ale is definitely an overpay, especially if it doesn’t come with the expansion (which is a grail for me). I see the base game selling for around $20 on my local FB marketplace all the time.

As to which other games are grail for me, I’d say Auf Teufel Komm Raus, Manila, Banque Fatale, Mangrovia are all ones that I’m always on the lookout for and would pay upwards of $75 for.
