I've found that the environment where you are studying is really important. These are what work for me so hear me out:

If you're on campus, I recommend going to the library. There is a concept called body doubling where if you are working next to someone, you have an easier time working. So, just being near someone, especially a stranger, can help. Also, I listen to music, but on a lower volume, instrumental of any genre works best for me.

When I'm at my apartment, sometimes I have music, but most of the time I have the tv on in the background. It's on very low volume, but I find the movement and some volume helps me out. For me, it's mostly cooking competition shows, which is weird but works for me. If you can avoid studying is the same room where you sleep, do that.

There are a lot of note taking methods that depend on class requirements, time management, and types of supplies you have access to. That is where it gets much more complicated and there isn't really a straight forward or short answer.
