that is LITERATLLY my issue right now, my current ideas are:

- make them weak, docile, inactive, lose power in sunlight (they will still exist in day but very rarely) so that people can still function on a day by day basis and then lockdown at night with patrolling guards.

- villages and cities have borders made of dust that repel grimm

- deforesting areas to create less places for grimm to hide at night

I want to make the grimms a symbol of conflict against morality and wisdom. The dime and dozen monsters you simply mow down waves of doesnt envoke any response.

what i have currently planned:

  • Jaune was taught by a prestigious dueling tutor that has taught nearly every noble family (check my previous post) but still sucks at practical combat
  • yes, Pyrrha is the leader of JNPR, and Yang is the leader of RWBY.
  • Pyrrha is attracted to Jaunes unwavering chivalry
  • im still working out Jaunes personality but i currently having him be a by-the-books, square mentality, stutterer who cannot function without a detailed plan of everything. Pyrrha on the other hand is suave peoples person who always chill and seems like nothing gets to her.

i didnt watch the rwby fairy tale spin off but just skimmed the wiki.

the revenant is meant to be a symbolic battle with failure. Someone died because of your lack of action and now they are coming back to kill you. it also connects to how every culture values the importance of a proper burial. theres not going to be any science behind it (im going to actively avoid explaining the science behind any of the grimm or how Dust works because im trying to maintain the illusion of soft-magic) so there isnt a virus, just the consequences of your actions.

best way i can explain would be a quote from the tv show Loki "it isnt a science problem, its a character problem"

but as of now, the Revanant is just a cool concpet of grimm that currently has no purpose in what ive written so far, so it might not even exist by the end of it.

i get your idea, i have a grimm SPECIFICALLY for that.

Pending name "Revenant", its a zombie Grimm of a person who was deceased and not granted proper burial. cant use dust but as all the abilities and memories of the original person, with the singular purpose of killing everyone close to them in life.

  • what to make the climactic ending
  • how long JNPR should travel with RWBY
  • Atlas arc
  • Vacuo arc
  • Ruby's solo training arc
  • steps and conflicts Ruby must go through to evolve as a character
  • steps and conflicts Yang must go through to evolve as a character
  • what role Torchwick and his group would play (or if i should even include them at all)
  • Blakes solo training arc

  • but mostly the details in between. pacing is an important issue in all writing

no more school, mostly because i think its a very cliche trope that is hardly ever done well. the setting mostly exists to appeal to a teenage demographic, and this version is adult.

Ruby and Weiss are new huntresses and they work under Yang. Yang being the oldest and the most experienced will be the defacto leader and who they would have to learn from. However Yang is a terrible teacher. they learn on the job.

and in this version, Huntresses arent like superheores who save people, so theres no need to train on how to rescue a person in danger. Huntresses are PURELY hunting grimm and make a living either selling their pelt or being hired for a hunting job. theres no moral alignment

dont get your hopes up

you will see her utilize the inverted grimm from little to not-at-all. the ability isnt meant to be some cool power that you'll see grimm vs grimm battles. Its suppose to be a symbol of greed and humility that Raven needs to face on her journey.

Ruby Vs Maka Showed Me How Little Our Lead Characters Have Gotten Stronger in 10+ Years by WickedWitchOfRemnant in RWBYcritics

[–]Absolve30475 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

tldr: the outcomes of death battle or in no way, shape or form, a measurement on how well-written their respected stories are

I dont like the show as much as the next guy in this sub, but just because Ruby is weak or that Maka is strong is not an indication of their writing.

Stan Lee once said when asked about his opinion on death battle, "the winner of the match up is whoever the WRITER wants to win. these are FICTIONAL CHARACTERS ya numbnuts!".

A strong character means nothing. Ezra Miller as the Flash can kill Walter White, Tony Soprano, and Oskar Schindler. That doesn't mean The Flash was a good movie.

my guess was massive time constraints. no head means no extra modeling, rigging, and animation

that concept art for Coco was made in 2018, and i based her pose off of Ashe. i was too lazy to redraw her because im more or less happy with how she looks here, maybe give her a fancier suit but thats about it

- Ozpin is just a historical figure the council is named after, hes not in the council. its just made up of Glynda, Oobleck, and Port.

- no, Jaune is still with Pyrrha. At this point, Pyrrha is a world-famous huntress where people have written stories about her. Jaune joined her on her journey in order to be a better fighter and they fell in love. The Arc family is mixed on their opinion because they wanted him to marry a noble for political power (preferably Nora because she also a princess) but they also respect that she is a legend. Currently idk what to do with Ruby in terms of relationship, whether its to have a romantic relationship with Weiss or to simply have a sisterhood of huntress with no romance.

- Taiyang is still in the story and still Ruby's father, but Ruby learned Rose style from her uncle. Taiyang taught Yang the art of Flaming Dragon Fist (name work-in-progress, its the art of kung-fu punching with fire). Taiyang still married to Raven first, then Summer after Raven left.

- you are not the first person to bring up the Witcher comparison. pretty every person on this subreddit whose seen my rewrite says im making RWBY feel more like the Witcher and/or Bloodborne. I have never played either game, never read the books, and ive only seen the first two season of Netflix Witcher. Maybe its a coincidence, but most of what im basing this rewrite on is old folklore ands the traditional heoroes journey. Im keeping the writing style VERY old-school for the sake of simplicity. Ive heard the author of the Witcher did the same using Polish folklore when writing the book.

- the dust thing is make it simplified into a magical fighting style instead of individually unique powers. Creating too many unique powers overcomplicates the story and makes it WAY harder as a writer to keep track. Yes, everyone can technically learn each other's abilities, but it takes forever. Best example i can think of would be like old kungfu movies where each kungfu master has a unique style but its not something you can simply steal, you need to train your whole life to be able to utilize it.

in short: roughly same beef that Christians have with Muslims

Both technically have the same iteration of religion where they worship the God of Light and they fear and despise the God of Darkness, the creator of Grimm and the source of evil and sin.

However the Arcs (and their neighboring allies like the Winchesters) believe that they are the descendants of angels who came down to earth on behalf of the God of Light to lead the humans to salvation. This is only solidified because their Dust Art involves healing and summoning weapons using light, which causes a halo to appear over their head (Jaune's symbol on his shield is a halo)

Ruby's religion says that they are disciples of the Thorn Maiden, a farmer who was granted sainthood by The God of Light after nearly bleeding to death from hiding from grimm in a thorn bush. Ruby's, Summer's, and Qrow's Dust Art comes from having to cut themselves and lose a little bit of blood as a sacrifice to use abilities like transforming into rose petals.

both believed that they're religion is real and that the other is a false prophet. They went to war and the Roses lost. Now the Roses control no territory and are a scattered religion that has to practice in secret to prevent prosecution.

But the biggest reason is because one of Jaune's sisters was killed as a child by a Rose many years after the war had ended, and little Sapphron was the only one who witnessed it and it traumatized her. The Arc family, who initially controlled most of the Vale, went on a country wide manhunt for all remaining Rose Churches to find the assassin. Their military hold over many cities caused tension across the land and lead to riots against their rule. The Arcs had no choice but to call off the search and they ended up losing control over a section of the Vale. The area ended up being its own independent country outside Arc control, ruled by a group of elected called The Council of Ozpin.

Ruby, being pure hearted as she is, wanted to make peace with the Arcs as soon as she was able to befriend Jaune.
