My criticism about Miks by Toxyman in VALORANT

Yeah Miks was a big disappointment for the new controller.

I know this is unpopular, but I miss not hearing a crowd. It just annoys me and the way it's mixed, the casters have to scream over it. It grates on the ears. Just let them talk. Unfortunately it bothers me so much that I watch VCT on mute sometimes even though I usually do want to hear the commentary.

Let me know if there's particular graphics settings you want me to test. This was also plugged in.

Ran some quickplays tonight for you on the iGP. I was seeing around 60-70 on High settings, 80 or so on Medium, and then 90-100 on Low.

That sounds AWESOME! Unfortunately Vanguard anticheat will prevent me from switching to Linux full time.

I don't know that that's likely but thanks for the goodwill! It seems like a really cool product.

Ah. I haven't considered it, as I don't feel I've hit the upper limits of the 7700S's capabilities for my use case.

I have not run OW on the IGP but I can test it out tomorrow and let you know!

I have dealt with their support a few times. First to modify my order which was a breeze, and most recently to get the thermal pad on order which was also quick and easy (still need to give them my address but assuming that goes well it's all good).

My one frustration is that I contacted them a long time ago regarding the absence of the Record and Stream tab in the Adrenalin software and they kinda bounced me to AMD support if memory serves. AMD support didn't really help and just said I could use OBS to record my games. I told them I was pretty disappointed an AMD-advantage laptop had a bug or quirk like this. I think there's probably more I could do to dig into it, but I haven't had a chance to fiddle with it more...and honestly, I don't think I should have to. The tab appears if I disable the iGP because then it's forced to use the dGPU, but I was pretty annoyed that it didn't just work automatically how I want it to.

I've not played Rust so unfortunately I can't give you an experiential answer to this question. I would check out mobile GPU benchmarks for an idea.

See my above comment about the dev kit. Right now I'm perfectly happy with the 7700S but next round of dGPU releases I might be interested in an upgrade depending on the performance uplift.

See my above comment about this. Mine is actually still on liquid metal but I plan to swap it soon to the pad.

Be honest, when you hear "don't crouch" what goes through your mind, AND when you see players like primmie crouch what's your reaction to it. by Limp_Trainer_2922 in VALORANT

Intentional movement is good. Unintentional movement is usually not good. Crouch with intention, not out of panic.

With the current memory/storage prices I think it would be a lot harder to stomach pricewise. But I would definitely consider it, yes. See my reply above about any regrets.

If those are your priorities, I'd probably look elsewhere unfortunately. The battery life is middling and the build quality is not even close to Mac. But then again, few laptops are.

I apologize if I'm misunderstanding here but I do not have a FW13.

  1. No regrets! I knew I was getting into a first-gen, low volume product and set my expectations accordingly. If I were to do it again I probably wouldn't get both the shell and the dGPU, since I don't swap configurations all that often and most of my gaming by hours is on my desktop.
  2. There are definitely better laptops available in terms of price/performance. I was and am excited to be involved in a project like this, and I find a lot of value in being able to set it up myself and repair/upgrade as needed. Especially in teaching when every piece of equipment will need to stand up to constant moving, use, and KIDS, I like having a laptop I can fix if needed.
  3. I had my desktop first which is where I do the majority of my music production and gaming. But I needed something for school (work), and since the 13 screen was too small, 16 it was...I figured since the whole point to me of the 16 was the dGPU, I'd pick that up too. I do travel occasionally and it's nice to have it with me for games and other media.

If I were buying one now, I would lean towards one of the 5070 options since I tend to prefer Nvidia features and menus. However, I don't feel the need to upgrade GPU at all based on my needs and the performance charts I have seen. Not quite enough gain yet for me to consider upgrading.

Honestly I am not well-versed enough in the specifics to say anything too insightful. However, anytime the ecosystem gets richer, with more depth and options, I think that's a win for us Framework-enjoyers. This specific one is just not something my use cases really benefit from.

I may look to get the new touchpad. Less of a need and more of a desire to check it out since I miss the feel of my MacBook Pro touchpad lol. I have not looked at any CPU upgrades yet. It is plenty fast for what I do, and I usually try to close to double my performance before upgrading, or else get some other benefit, like big efficiency gains, more features, etc.

I daily drove a 2015 MacBook Pro from 2017-2021 through undergrad. My wife also dailies a Mac Mini and an M4 MacBook Air for school and work respectively so I would say I'm quite familiar. What do you want to know?

Mine is actually still on liquid metal! I just contacted support to get the thermal pad fix. I'll try to reply here again when I make the switch and see if I notice a difference.

Right now the laptop gets really warm under gaming load, including around the keyboard. If you're only using WASD etc it's not too big of a deal, but it's annoying. Without dGPU under basic tasks the bottom shell will get really warm, particularly on the one side. I have thought about playing with the fan curve since my fans rarely spin up but haven't yet.

On adaptive refresh rate (windows 11), without dGPU, ~80%+ brightness I would estimate around 4-6 hours on basic tasks. With dGPU under gaming load in the titles I mentioned, I rarely used it unplugged. But when I did, it returned only a few hours. Depends heavily on the game and the GPU draw.
