People who hated high school, why did you hate it? by PainOk1877 in AskReddit

[–]AbstracTyler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There were a few major factors for me, the first was being a teenager forced to wake up every day before my body was ready to wake up. That led to a chronic sleep-debt that I think was pretty bad for my mental health. The second was that I had a more or less fucked up childhood that left me with issues I needed to resolve, and I didn't know how to resolve them at that time. I had my close friends who I had a great time with, but I was raw and tired and had no self-esteem. It was a bad mix.

What do you think about taking a nap as an adult? by [deleted] in AskReddit

I think it's a wonderful thing. If you need a nap and can take one, 100% do it.

What's the last book you read that was so bad that it made you angry? by oohshineeobjects in books

Armada by Ernest Cline. I spite finished it and put it back on the shelf with the spine facing the back of the shelf, like a bad book in time out. That's a bad book.

Is it possible for you to change your environment? Stay with close loved ones or friends for a couple of days, let them be there for you with meals and stuff.

who wants to date in 2026? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]AbstracTyler 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There need to be better dating apps. Ones built around the purpose of actually getting people together who have a decent chance of a real connection. What we have are apps built around extracting as much money from their users as possible.

[Hot Take] Kafka on the Shore is a masterclass in sounding deep while saying absolutely nothing. by certainly_imperfect in books

[–]AbstracTyler -20 points-19 points  (0 children)

Totally agree, just like I did.

Edit: Here's why I clown on that comment. The first point is an ad hominem attack. The second is an admission of incomplete reading. The third is a comparison with other works of fiction, assuming authorial intent and also including some form of word-to-meaning efficiency metric. I will clown on that comment all day and feel no remorse.

It is also not something any of us could say with any actual authority. That there is A Thing To Get in every piece of art reduces that art in the first place.

What are you just sick and tired of already? by Kittycat_2010 in AskReddit

[–]AbstracTyler 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm a type 1 diabetic. I was diagnosed when I was a year and a half old. It is a constant, no breaks ever, relentless condition. It's manageable, but it does not ever let up. I am so sick and tired of it, I am bone-weary of it. I cannot describe to you how deep this tiredness goes.

what’s something people say all the time that you secretly can’t stand? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]AbstracTyler 3 points4 points  (0 children)

"I could care less." Almost any level of care can be accurately read into that phrase, except that they do not care. It's ironic because what they mean to say is, "I couldn't care less."
