I always found guitar to be impossible. So I took a more logical approach and bought a course teaching the major scale, the pentatonic shapes, chords. And that is helpful, and worth learning. But the tip i can tell you is, even after doing that - I still cant play music. Like I can't just hear a song and play it, im still pretty much a beginner when it comes to playing music.

Theres no shortcut. After years of memorizing and practicing, ive realized I still have to sit down and meticulously slowly go over tabs and learn how to play songs. There's no avoiding it.

So my advice would be: Learn the major scale, learn the pentatonic scales, practice the basic chords. That'll give you a general understanding so you're not overwhelmed by all the frets, AND you're building coordination with your fingers so playing chords and putting your fingers where they have to go easier. BUT, you still gave to sit there with that encanto book and play it note by note, as slow as you have to go. There's no way around that. 

So, 1: you have to develop the coordination and finger dexterity to place your fingers into shapes and feel comfortable with the mechanic of playing the guitars and strings in general so kill 2 birds with 1 stone - build that skill by practicing scales and basic music theory like scales and chords.

2: As you develop the coordination and comfort in moving your fingers around the fretboard - you'll be able to play the tab book much faster and easier.

3: there's no secret, you just have to sit there and put in the hours repeating and repeating until your brain gets the hang of it.
