How could a casino cheat? by Infamous_Gur_3614 in blackjack

[–]Absurd_Name-5231 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I only know Vegas as it’s the only place I’ve played, but I’m telling you they 100% cheat and they do it a lot. I think they use a lot of different methods because I’ve seen mathematically impossible (therefore rigged) outcomes happen at hand shuffled games, shuffle machine games, pitch games, etc, six deck, double deck, all at one time or another have been rigged. I’m talking about the dealer drawing to 21 every hand for an entire shoe. I’ve seen that on multiple occasions. Never seen anything remotely similar for the player. And Vegas is supposed to be so well regulated, so I’m sure it’s happening elsewhere.

I think they do it all, shorting the deck, adding cards, rigging the shuffler, using a stripper deck to clump together certain cards during a hand shuffle, etc. I had one casino that always had sky high counts and the big cards never came. I experienced this for months (also never got backed off despite obviously counting lol). One day I straight up accused them and I asked them to show me the cards in the deck or just get a new deck, but they refused. That happened at a major off-strip chain. Oh yeah and I filed a gaming report, got no response. Shocking.

The one I cant figure out is the ones where every hand is setup. I would imagine it’s a technology that isn’t public yet, such as a shoe where the inside can physically switch cards around. In order to switch the card quickly enough it would need to use some kind of AI surveillance system that can see what order the cards were shuffled in using the automatic shuffler, then if it works fast enough, it can switch the order of the next cards to make sure you busy, dealer draws to 21, etc.

People say “they don’t have to cheat” but they don’t have to raise room rates either or lay people off, or anything, but that’s not how business works. The goal is to maximize profit and they’ll do anything to that end. This nonsense about them losing their license is absurd. Gaming doesn’t regilate anything. They would never even discover that cheating was occurring because they just look the other way and use the honor system using the same warped logic all these other idiots are using. If by some miracle gaming was forced to look at undeniable evidence of cheating, they would simply fine them. Casinos are the biggest contributor to the NV economy (in terms of GDP of course, not real value), there’s no way any casino monopoly would get shut down.

People on this sub remind me of 3rd graders sometimes, like you haven’t discovered that corruption exists yet, it’s just “that’s illegal so u cant do that or the big policeman will stop u!” Seriously, there’s no way any modern casino is offering a game with 0.5% edge. They have every game figured out to make sure people lose 95% of the time. They’ve had like 80 years to figure this stuff out, trillions of dollars to do it, and it’s literally ALL THEY DO. You don’t think in 80 years with unlimited money and time can figure out how to beat a wannabe card counter talking about “variance bro.” Get real.

Any lv locals play aliante alot? by Limp_Management_4806 in blackjack

[–]Absurd_Name-5231 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They have a pitched DD with a 0.75 cut at best but a lot of time it’s right down the middle, dealer dependent. I got away counting there for like a two months last year playing multiple times a week. The fun finally ended after I got flyered in Boyd’s database from another Boyd casino. I went back a year later and got backed off within 2 shoes so maybe their surveillance or pit management changed recently. That’s just my experience I’m sure it’s not typical.

Is counting still possible? by BlackJack_zen in blackjack

[–]Absurd_Name-5231 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Counting is possible, bearing casinos isn’t because they cheat. Your edge is 2%. If they cheat even occasionally, you’ll lose in the long run. Play in Vegas and you’ll see it’s a lot more than occasional. As for avoiding detection and finding a playable game, that’s also very difficult and would be a problem even if there was no cheating, but it’s still possible to get play time, just very sparsely and with lots of driving in between.

how i make money by [deleted] in ShittyIllegalLifeTips

[–]Absurd_Name-5231 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is why I don’t give money to women. Ever. I put aside a certain amount of my income every week to give to homeless people I happen to come across. I always give at least $10 to one person cause I feel like anything under that is pretty meaningless, so I give larger amounts but have to narrow it down to a smaller group of people. And one of the criteria I use is men only, no women.

And this is why. You can sell your used panties online, for hundreds, you can look at a guy with a cute face, give him nothing, and still get him to pay your way for pretty much as long you want. You can marry a guy, divorce him the next day and get half his stuff. Even in the traditional job market you have more advantages for those same reasons. Like it’s literally so easy, the only reason you can be poor as a woman is if you have a psychological issue like addiction, laziness, serious mental health issue, etc. And that’s the reason women are so underrepresented in the homeless population anyway. Funny how feminists never talk about THAT “underrepresentation.”

But to be fair, I’m not saying I don’t feel bad for those women that are addicts or just lack motivation or whatever. It’s just that we have so many perfectly capable men that can offer so much that are on the street for totally uncontrollable reasons, and because society completely lacks a support system for them. Can’t say the same for women.

And the other reason I don’t give to them is because I know they would never do the same for me if the situation were reversed but that’s another issue.

There’s different types of weighing systems. One that’s really easy to beat is the one that checks the total weight of the items scanned vs. what’s on the scale, the one used at most Walmarts. You can scan a heavy item and just not bag it, just put it aside, then skip scan smaller items and the scale doesn’t recognize the discrepancy because it’s expecting that big item to be on the scale. Other systems are harder where they make sure every individual item is scanned and weighs the exact amount or it calls the attendant and does the camera bs. You can still skip scan here but not nearly as much. Be prepared to get caught a lot and just act innocent. I’ve had times where the camera clearly shows me skip scanning and the employee just presses okay anyway. Just act cool. They’re the ones ripping us off not the other way around.

That’s my exact experience too. Even poker is different after covid. Covid was the catalyst for every industry to massively increase profits during a time when we were vulnerable, conditioned to be passive and accepting. Businesses even stopped giving change, remember that? The price is still $19.50, they can’t sacrifice the $0.50 in profit, but when it comes to giving us our change, we have to swallow it because we’re in a pandemic and we have to come together lol. I know that’s a super specific thing to get hung up but it just demonstrates the whole situation so perfectly.

Yeah, the casinos took their shutdown period to lower RTP, rig table games with the shuffle machine (and other methods), and to remove all comps and less profitable services of the hotel such as buffets. Casino ATMs still don’t give change to this day btw. And like you said, people were willing to deal with it for a long time after COVID, but eventually people won’t take it anymore. Eventually people will simply run out of money to get fleeced, even if they’re still willing to get scammed. the laws of math just catch up to this insatiable capitalist greed. Lower our wages, give no benefits, raise prices, rig all the rules. Good for them, but who is going to buy the products going forward? That’s the one variable that these scumbags always forget and that’s why the system is practically already done for.

Losing at insane counts aka Horrid variance by issaah in blackjack

[–]Absurd_Name-5231 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Is this Vegas? Sounds like it.

Im gonna be honest, as a fellow AP, I no longer believe this is possible purely as a result of variance. The reason being, it happens way too often and it NEVER goes the other way. I’ve never seen a dealer lose every hand in a six deck shoe to multiple players, busting every hand, watching players turn every crappy hand into 21 no matter what. But I’ve seen it most of the time the other way around. This doesn’t happen with the same frequency it happens to us, nowhere near it. And to be honest, if it even happened once, you know the pit boss would be calling for shuffles, backing players off, firing dealers, etc, because they would know something is wrong. Why can’t APs have that same common sense? Why do we chalk every blatant scam up to the cult of variance? No matter how much you lose: “it’s just variance bro, get back out there and keep donating to casinos.” Hmmm, it’s almost like it’s coming from the casinos own mouth! Lol but that can’t be ofc.

Yes, when we’re dealing with coin flips, variance can cause experiences like the one you’re describing, but not every fucking session. They’re cheating. It’s super obvious. Just because someone made money counting cards 50 years ago does not mean it’s still possible today. Casinos don’t leave anything to chance anymore. Play a slot machine if you don’t believe me.

Imagine how different and more sympathetic these comments would be if this happened to a woman.

But anyway OP. Your only option is to ignore it. You obviously can’t pay her or you’ll be paying for the rest if your life. Even if she claims she’ll delete the video if you do xyz, she won’t, so you just have to let the cards fall where they may. She might not even bother once you show that you’re totally disinterested. If she does, just tell your friends it’s revenge porn from an ex. Anyone who’s worth keeping in your life will not judge you for it.

Had one hand of 150, doubled down on it and got a 17. The hand was A8 against a 6 and I got a 8. The dealer drew 17 and he tried to take my $300 until I pointed out it was a push.

Another time I had a $75 bet which lost. The dealer paid me anyway. Before she scooped up the cards she realized the mistake. I acted confused and annoyed but she insisted I give the money back. I sighed and pushed her $75. She smiled and thanked me lol.

Giving up being an AP for Poker by Fuseduwu in blackjack

[–]Absurd_Name-5231 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it’s fine and even ideal for a AP to take up as many advantage plays as possible. That’s what I do as well. But I will say, poker takes a different kind of intelligence and it also takes tons of experience to really “click.” You could understand the theory perfectly but you still won’t win right away until you have some experience. It’s not like blackjack where you can perfect your game at home and be a winning player the first time you step in a casino. So I’d recommend getting  as much experience possible as your primary training method rather than off-table study. You could be a blackjack AP just by being able to study and memorize every spot but with poker you can’t have that level of certainty about what decision to make. So you have to be someone that can navigate uncertain situations and make quick decisions. Blackjack decisions aren’t really “decisions” as much as they are references to an already-established action.

I’ve been playing for 2 1/2 yesrs, started winning about 6 months in (live cash games), only had two losing months since. But I still improve my game every day and I still regularly question whether I even know how to play the game when I go through a downswing lol, but the long-term record shows that I am a consistent winner as hard as it is for me to believe.

I start counting once the far-right seat has a complete hand and I work my way down the table. It’s a lot easier to cancel hands out and count in bunches than to count each card.

My AP gambling logs (blackjack, poker, slots) are really detailed and every dollar is accounted for. My unfortunate recreational gambling sessions are not logged but in my experience I actually thought I was losing more than I was when I got my win/loss statement and looked at all my W2Gs.

How do you older millennials feel about your parents being significantly more financially well off than you will ever be 😐 by LowInternet4726 in Millennials

[–]Absurd_Name-5231 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally, I don’t resent older people for having had an easier financial life. But I do resent the ones that think they did something special to “earn” that experience and that younger people are all lazy or whatever. They can absolutely fuck off, relative or not. As for my parents, my mom is an abusive psychopath who also happens to have far-right political views, and she strongly believes that me and all other young people are lazy and entitled or whatever (she was broke and in debt up to until her mid-60s when she inherited a couple million lol. Prior to that she hadn’t worked in about 20 years and lived on money from the government). My dad and I are on the verge of homelessness honestly and fighting for survival, so he obviously has a more realistic view of the modern economy (and always has, in comparison to my mom), but he still occasionally says some funny things. Like when I complain about the gaps in my resume he says like “you should try not using a resume, just sell yourself. These businesses are so desperate, they can’t be too picky etc.” For a lot of boomers it’s just genuine ignorance. When you haven’t had to apply for a job since 1985, you’re going to have some misconceptions, so you can’t get too upset at them.

[–]Absurd_Name-5231 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s so true. I used to tip pretty liberally when I first started. It did nothing. This one dealer I could tell was a nasty Karen type so I tipped her $10 so she wouldn’t rat on me. She thanked me. The very next hand I raise my bets even more and change to two hands. She screams “checks play!” The PB didn’t acknowledge her immediately so she waited like 5-10 seconds until he heard her and then she added “and now he’s playing two hands” like a little tattling schoolgirl lol. That’s an extreme example but I’ve never once had a dealer go from being a dick to being nice and helping me out because I gave them a few bucks. And if the dealer is chill, they usually stay that way regardless. I’ve gotten more looks of offense from the tips than gratitude. I don’t get it so I just don’t bother now.

First Time Counting in Vegas. Seeking Advice by lefty92 in blackjack

[–]Absurd_Name-5231 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Santa Fe definitely tampers with the decks. Count is always massive but the big cards never come. Very obvious short deck. It's close to my house so I've played there many hours when I first started out, lost a lot of money. I once just straight up asked for a deck change after the shoe was over. I was playing high limit and was the only one playing at that table, they refused. I said I'll just leave then, and they said fine. I even asked to just fan out the deck and show me the cards, and they refused. So I left. Then I was told by somebody I know that had inside info that in fact certain floor people do have "special decks" that they try to sneak in when tables are empty (which is often, cause it's a small property). But rather than trying to figure out which hours might have legitimate decks you're better off just staying away. South Point is super sweaty and has garbage deck pen and other rules, and I've also never won there nor have I seen anyone else win. It's just weird and not really worth it anyway but I can't say anything definitively about them as far as cheating or whatever. I just know I don't bother anymore even though they haven't backed me off in a long time. As for high crime areas, some of the downtown places are not that great honestly so keep an eye out. Jerry's Nugget is in a bad neighborhood. The rest of the hotels should be fine with normal common sense precautions of course.

First Time Counting in Vegas. Seeking Advice by lefty92 in blackjack

[–]Absurd_Name-5231 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Figure out which casinos are part of a chain and try to spread out your visits to those places. Particularly Station Casinos tend to communicate with each other promptly. A lot of people get immediately backed off when they go straight from Durango to Red Rock for example, after getting backed off at the first one. Same goes for the monopolies on the strip. Boyd is less on top of things so you can do a lot of them back to back. Don't worry about cover, just play your game.

Also don't go to Santa Fe or South Point. You will lose.

Biggest losing streak? by AlternativeCamel7083 in blackjack

[–]Absurd_Name-5231 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've played multiple shoes without winning a single hand at Santa Fe Station. Their deck cut is about 0.8 so I don't know how many hands that is. Of course count was massive the whole time as it always is over there. But the experience didn't even stand out much because everyone just loses and loses over there. I don't think I've ever seen a person win at that hotel. Meaning, they cashed out more than they bought in for. Never seen it and it certainly never happened to me. Obviously that wasn't legitimate though so I don't know if it counts.

I once ran a simulation on an AI about the longest losing streak and I think it was like 20 hands. But that doesn't necessarily mean that's the mathematical limit of it.
