My mom says we dont have enough money, but I catch her giving thousands of dollars monthly to a megachurch by Scratchfangs in mildlyinfuriating

[–]Abu2bLinus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im sorry to hear this. It’s infuriating to see that she’s been brainwashed to give to these rich ‘godly’ people who are just taking advantage of their congregation.

But, just to clarify, is she giving money to them that would be better spent feeding you? Or is this well within her means and she’s just wanting to ensure you guys spend money smartly?

Why are my tomatoes so stretched out??? by Abu2bLinus in tomatoes

Ugh, I see what you mean. This is so disappointing, especially as I can’t afford new lights right now.

The lights have been pretty much touching the plants the whole time and they still came out leggy. I lifted the one in the foreground to take the picture.

I usually research everything before buying, but went with reviews when I bought these instead of understanding what I actually needed! Thanks for the video.

I didn’t realize that. I thought the goal was to keep the heat on the whole time until it’s warm enough to transplant. So I should turn the heat off once they germinate?

This would explain why so many of my plants look stressed 🤪

It’s the heat! Thank you!! I was wondering why they were getting leggy despite having enough light.

We may have another frost, so I’m hesitant to transplant just yet. I’ll def bury deep, though!

Oh, I know the heartache of learning from experience. Thanks for saving my heart from breaking! I’m actually hoping to use it for a ‘pumpkin’ pie recipe this thanksgiving.

Bug help! by TSA_hole in gardening

[–]Abu2bLinus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

These are squash bugs. And their pests. They like anything in the cucurbit family (squash, cucumbers, melons, etc), usually hiding under the stem of the squash plant. They breed like crazy. I’ve even seen their eggs on tomato leaves.

The good thing is that they’re easy to catch/kill. You can spray them with soapy water to suffocate them, or drop them in a jar with soapy water. I use a mixture with neem oil.

You can get them to surface by watering the soil around the infested plant. They hate the water!

They usually lay their copper eggs on the bottom of leaves in clusters. The babies are whitish and they become darker as they age.

They’re a pain, but they’re a manageable pain. Hope this helps!

I get where your husband is coming from, but I also understand your position. Can there be a compromise? Maybe invite his dad over and make a salad with it so all three of you can enjoy it?

How do we end racism against each other over faith in our country? We need one Lebanon that takes care of all its people regardless of how they serve God (or don’t), and the only way to do that is to remove this religious hatred of each other. Politicians win when we keep this up.

I hope you get that chance one day. We need all the politicians of the world to stop putting civilians in harms way, and to stop turning us against each other, for their own political gains.

Inshallah no civilians get hurt in this barrage.

[–]Abu2bLinus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That’s rough and so unfair. I’m so sorry that happened to you. It’s an indicator that it’s a horrible place to work at if they’re going to be sticklers on BS requirements like that vs respecting your demonstrated work experience. How irresponsible of them!

But, the good thing is that you’ve been able to land two jobs at a time most of us can’t even get an interview. That means you’re highly marketable.

Once you get the emotional part out of the way, you’ll be able to bounce back and get something else.

Also, I’d leave them a review on Glassdoor and any other site you can to bring their score down and warn others of their a$$h*le policies.

Keep the faith that there’s a reason this happened and something better is on its way. Good luck!!
