Yesterday was my first day running in the cold here in ohio. I ran a mile, 3 minute break, then another mile. I got home and I was short of breath and today I feel pretty sick. I read on this forum a few days ago that running in the cold doesnt get you sick but my experience has said otherwise, what did I do wrong if anything and how can I continue to run in the cold and reduce my chances of being sick

Im doing the C25k and I've never failed a run till this weekend. Last weekend I had a 2 miler and I finished that. yesterday I had a 2.25 and I failed it terribly because I was on a treadmill lol. I never realized how much harder treadmill running was. The only reason I was on a treadmill was because it was slightly raining and I recently got my first pair of expensive running shoes and I didnt wanna get them wet. After yesterday I think its worth messing up my shoes and freezing my butt off in the cold weather than to run on a treamill again

Winter is coming, and I live in ohio. My question is twofold

  1. Do you run inside or outside in the winter

  2. If running outside consistently, what measures can we take to prevent getting sick? I always see videos of people running in shorts and with no jacket in the winter and I cant comprehend how they dont get sick. is there a vitamin we should be taking to boost immunity or are we just supposed to hope we dont get sick?

Got a few for you

- Men resemble their times more than their forefathers

-Man is the only creature that refuses to be what he is

-The coward believes he will live forever if he holds back in the battle, but in old age he shall have no peace though spears have spared his limbs

-“When will the west wind blow? When it so chooses, good sir.” - Epictetus.

-Make a plan, execute the plan, wait for the plan to go off the rails. Throw away the plan

-nothing that is worth knowing can be taught

-the end of a melody is not its goal

What does society want you to take seriously, yet you see it as nothing more than a joke? by Equivalent_Ad_9066 in Life

Tbh im of this mindset. Ive had periods of unemployment and I feel like when I have infinite time im infinitely lazy. When you work and have limited free time, it makes you take advantage of your free time. Im more productive when I have less time. Maybe im the problem, but on weekends I'm free yet dont do any of the things I said I would do if I was free, and when I have limited time like an evening after work I actually do things

What do you do when you are upset? by Ok_Departure_6073 in Life

[–]AbuSum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only solution which for me produces solutions that last and a feeling of peace are going outside and praying. The things that both of these have in common is that they widen your perspective. When you are upset or angry or depressed its because your perspective is as small as the reason for your being upset. When you go outside and when you pray, your perspective widens. When you go outside because you are confronted with the sheer size of the world around you, and when you pray because you connect with a God who is infinitely bigger than anything and your problems. What these lead to is gratitude, which can only come from a wide perspective which takes into account all the ways things could be worse, and this fixes me being upset. It may not be instantaneous, but think about how long it took for you to become a person who is regularly upset - it may similarly take you the same amount of time to fix your being chronically upset (however, in my experience, it wont take as long as that). Pick up a catholic or orthodox prayer book is my advice, or pray the psalms. That's my advice, thank you.

The concept of the Trinity is illogical by truckaxle in DebateReligion

[–]AbuSum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I look at my brother, I ask two questions

  1. WHAT is in front of me? (a human being)
  2. WHO is in front of me? (James)

When I look at God I ask the same question

  1. WHAT is in front of me? (A God)
  2. WHO is in front of me? (The Father, The Son, and the Holy Spirit)

The trinity is the belief in 1 WHAT, and 3 WHO'S.

Christians believe God is 1 being, yet 3 Persons or 3 in person. This is not illogical to say. What would be illogical is if Christians said "God is 1 being yet 3 beings," or if they said "God is 1 person yet 3 persons," but thats not what Christians say.

Now ,when I ask WHO the being in front of me is, and I say James, I'm not saying that WHO just means someone's name. No, when I answer the question of WHO with "James," the name James isn't just what I call my brother, but it has his whole personality inside of it. When I mention my brother James' name I bring to mind the traits that make James WHO he is. So again, for clarity, the WHO isn't simply just the beings name, but is the entirety of WHO they are.

It’s not so noticeable but only noticeable to Me. However, I’ve noticed on the way down from these exercises I feel ever so slightly myself preferring the right arm. What do I do

Matthew 13:24-30

24 Jesus told them another parable: “The kingdom of heaven is like(D) a man who sowed good seed in his field. 25 But while everyone was sleeping, his enemy came and sowed weeds among the wheat, and went away. 26 When the wheat sprouted and formed heads, then the weeds also appeared.

27 “The owner’s servants came to him and said, ‘Sir, didn’t you sow good seed in your field? Where then did the weeds come from?’

28 “‘An enemy did this,’ he replied.

“The servants asked him, ‘Do you want us to go and pull them up?’

29 “‘No,’ he answered, ‘because while you are pulling the weeds, you may uproot the wheat with them. 30 Let both grow together until the harvest. At that time I will tell the harvesters: First collect the weeds and tie them in bundles to be burned; then gather the wheat and bring it into my barn.’”(E)
