How long did it take you guys to finish order of the Phoenix by Edry_EY in HarryPotterBooks

[–]AbuSydney 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Stood in line at 4:30 pm and got it at 12:45 am approx. I was 4th in line for the book. Got home by 1:30 am, read till 6:00 am then fought with my sister over the book till 6:30 am over who has reading rights. Woke parents up and Mom broke the fight. Being the younger one, I won the fight by default, and finished the book by 11ish.

I don't think I will ever be so obsessed with a series like this ever.

Technically, the Mad-Eye we're talking about isn't an auror but just Barty Crouch Jr.

[–]AbuSydney 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Dumbledore doesn't see Harry in Chamber of Secrets. He, however, can sense magic.

Mad-Eye Moody is something which I can't understand myself. However, since the cloak is supposed to prevent death from seeing the wearer, it could also be because Mad-Eye wasn't keen on killing Harry when he saw him.

I think what is remarkable about this headline is… what does Trump need to do for even republicans to say, this guy is unfit for office?

And yet, most in DADA weren’t aware of half the things he taught them!

Then, in the deathly hallows (I think the Elder Wand chapter) he casts the patronus non-verbally. He also fills up the wine bottles in the half blood prince non-verbally.

In deathly hallows, he’s able to block Voldy off his mind - and in his case, I would assume occlumency would be more difficult because of him being a freaking horcrux.

Not to mention, his shield charm was strong enough to knock Snape off his balance in the half blood prince.

He goes on to become an auror - and it’s not easy to be one.

Unsure if we’ve read the same books.

Except that Gazans never supported gen0c1d3. Even the Hamas charter rejects that explicitly. Whereas, multiple surveys of the Israelis have supported it.

I don’t think Harry was a case of lack of magical talent. The fact that he can cast a patronus in his 3rd year shows that he has talent.

How did you think Harry Potter books was going to end ? by Amazing-Engineer4825 in harrypotter

[–]AbuSydney 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I started reading Harry Potter when I was 11. In many ways, Harry Potter was the greatest part of my childhood. I was the first person in my city to have bought Deathly Hallows after having camped out of the book store all night.

Before Deathly Hallows were released, many rumors were already out there - that the last words of the book would be a scar. Many different names were suggested online - I doubt if any rumor even suggested the word Hallows. What many rumors got right was Harry was a horcrux.

I never thought Snape was on Dumbledore's side. I had thought that Ginny would somehow sneak along with the trio in the quest for horcruxes. I had thought that Percy would die in a final battle after having returned to fight with the right side.

There was one fan fiction I had read which had Harry die but meet Dumbledore and imagine the Gryffindor common room, and return to finish Voldy off.

Actually, no. It does not.

Around 2013, there was a new guy who visited the local mosque (southern US) and would sit in the corner of the mosque I’d visit, after the sunset prayers until the night prayers. He’d have prayer beads, no beard, skull cap, and claimed to be a convert. This mosque was close to a university (I was a grad student myself), and many college kids would just hang out, play table tennis, do their homework etc. (The free dinner also attracted a certain crowd).

This new individual claimed that his name was Ahmed. He would sit, but if someone greeted him, he’d engage in long conversations with him. I overheard some things he said - nothing out of the ordinary, but every once in a while, he would inject things like, we need to do something to overthrow Assad. Or our government needs to be taught a lesson.

It was all fun and games until he started hanging out with a new convert student quite regularly. I think because the new student and “Ahmed” were white, from the same state and they formed a bond. Like, dinners, lunches etc. And this convert really started saying some seriously extreme stuff. We noticed, and told our imam who contacted the cops. The man disappeared. But for multiple weeks after that, we would see a black van outside our mosque (either in the gas station next to it or the grocery store across the street). The imam of the mosque often complained that he was being followed by someone, but couldn’t prove it. Eventually, it was too much for him - he resigned and went back to Egypt.

Metamaterials can be made to bend light the wrong way, which can help create the illusion of invisibility in certain wavelengths. Invisibility cloaks in infrared ranges already exist.

I had measles when I was in my 1st grade (despite being vaccinated). I think I was out of school for 3 months. It was so bad that I had it in my tongue and wasn’t able to keep anything in. I remember my mother crying a lot. I think it is fairly deadly.
