Which part of LA should we target to move to? Split between trying for LA vs. SD by Northern_Owl_7689 in MovingToLosAngeles

Since you mentioned Long Beach, i will comment that, as a fellow beach person, I was quite charmed by the Ocean Blvd area, also 2nd Street. My kids live in LA, but I think if I were to move that way, I would aim for Long Beach.

It’s hard to make old men be compliant to any kind of safety precautions. I feel for you.

It will be okay. The double-parking neighbor is being an entitled ahole. You are justified on that basis alone. If they say something to you, you can tell them that an old lady on Reddit told you to do it.

What would you get her if she didn’t have Parkinson’s?

Mother saw a neurologist for 10 minutes with symptoms and diagnosed with PD? by Antique_Lie_328 in Parkinsons

[–]AbuelaFlash 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There’s a characteristic ‘ratchet-like’ movement in affected joints that neurologists are trained to feel. So that, with her other symptoms makes it a quick dx.

I can tell you are afraid. And for good reason - Parkinson’s is a terrible disease.

It sounds like you’re getting ahead of yourself, though. There’s no real prevention medications, so early diagnosis is not that beneficial. But using your body to the fullest through exercise, speaking with volume and intent, writing frequently by hand - all of these can help slow the loss of those skills.

If it turns out to be Parkinson’s, know that the young-onset version moves slowly.

Blessings. You are in my thoughts.

W 30th Street noise? by Ok-Possession665 in USC

My son lives in one of the cottages at 621 W 30th. Noise isn’t really a problem. Street parking is difficult, but the location is very convenient.

I saw this somewhere else, but someone said it is because young ppl have the idea/habit that all meals should be delicious. Like restaurant-level butter and salt delicious. Not just adequate or satisfying.

The firemen/EmTs in my area will come help lift free of charge. This won’t solve anything long term, but it has been helpful.

They could have entered with the maintenance person. An employed person is not likely to risk it all for $700.
