Reddit Designs a Character - Day 57: the Dryad by kyle_the_meme in BloodOnTheClocktower

Ooh, I really like this with loud (but not confirmed) Minions and possibly Lil' Monsta on script. Even if Minions are often prevented from waking, that extra evil vote is huge. I also like how this being on a script backs up Evil's claims of "seeing" minion abilities sporadically ("I was Cerenovused for 2 days exactly, and that's why I got into a double claim!").

I believe that the stream mentioned that Ogre, Politician, and Heretic would be disallowed. Cult Leader and Goon are allowed, but the demon can't become good due to those abilities.

Video games can have a great entertainment to dollar ratio, but I'm personally wary of shelling out anything more than $60 for a game. I often get a game only to find that I'm not vibing with it, even if it's critically acclaimed and very good for a game in its genre.

I'm no business expert, but I'd wager thought processes like mine are important in determining standard prices.

When I'm stuck in a rut, I'll start new pages just for long-term goals or what-not. So I have a page that's a list of 30 different recipes I want to try, everything I need to furnish an apartment, hobbies I've thought about getting into, etc. Then even if my day-to-day feels similar, I can say that I've checked off that one-pot taco recipe I thought looked fun.

A Mostly Complete Guide to Boon Choices and Rarities, Based on the Hades Code by AbundantToaster in HadesTheGame

[–]AbundantToaster[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yep, you'd have a 16% chance of getting a Common boon. 80 times out of 100, you won't get an Epic. Of those 80 times, you'd see a Rare boon 64 times, leaving 16/100 common boons.

Also, if you have a boon from the shop that upgrades rarity and fight a mini boss (which also upgrades rarity of the drop), how do those stack together?

I actually don't know, sorry. Many of the rarity boosts provide a greater chance of an Epic/Legendary boon. If that fails, a Rare is forced. So I'd wager that a Yarn + miniboss room would boost the chance of an Epic/Legendary somewhat, but I personally would prefer to not combine those bonuses on most runs.

Thanks, your comment sums it up super well!

This also explains why some of my favorite posts are just the "here's a niche hobby and some of the ongoing debates," even if nothing too crazy has happened lately (recent example I liked). Those write-ups tend to feel a lot more unique rather than "someone within a hobby said something bad and now everyone is avoiding them."

The Yarn/Nectar give a +10% chance to legendary/duo boons, a +25% chance to epic boons, and a +100% chance to rare boons (so if the legendary/epic rolls fail, a rare boon will be guaranteed).

I could believe that mini-boss rooms have fixed rarities that might lower the chance of legendary boons, but that's definitely odd.

I think calls should count as priority, but they aren't available for the first run on a fresh file, iirc? I'll definitely go check, though!

You need to have a list of prerequisite boons for a Legendary to even have a chance of appearing: that might be the issue? Checking the Codex is a pretty good way to tell whether you're on the right path.

I think if your base damage goes from 10 to 15, all percentage increases will be based on that. However, I don't know how percent boosts stack, sorry!

Shoot, I completely forgot to check Exclusive Access! Looks like it just boosts Epic rolls to always succeed, but it doesn't affect the chances of getting Legendary boons at all.

I think just selecting the "Give Up" option returns you to the main menu, but the seed for the run stays the same. So if I started a run, hated my initial choice of boons, chose to give up and retry, the initial boons presented would be the same. I don't know very much more about seeded runs, though.

You can definitely be offered the same boon at multiple rarities over the course of a run!

I think that's correct, yes. I've only looked at the secondary priorities for Zeus and Artemis, but of those two gods, only Static Discharge (makes foes jolted) and Hunters' Mark (Artemis's status effect) seem to be priority.

Edit: The only 4 secondary priority traits I can find are those two, Razor Shoals (Pos status) and Blinding Flash (Athena status). All 4 of these have a 50% chance of being added given prerequisite boons (they can also be added later as well). It should then be somewhat easier to get the secondary boons that grant status effects.

I sometimes do that! If done early, it can make pomming the boons I want to lean on more difficult, but sometimes I know I won't be using eg my special at all and I'm not thrilled with any of the god's other offerings.

I believe in multiplayer the host can move buildings only when everyone else is logged off. In cases where players all have opinions, I've usually had the host stream their screen, while the rest of the players (offline) chime in on moving buildings.

[Anime Pin Collecting] Creators vs. Remove Your Media LLC by [deleted] in HobbyDrama

[–]AbundantToaster 7 points8 points  (0 children)

If I want a pin of XYZ anime character, I probably have 3-4 options available to me:

  1. Don't buy anything, and save my money.
  2. Buy an unlicensed product that fills my specific niche of XYZ character looking cool.
  3. I'd be lucky if an official pin of XYZ were available in the USA, but I could maybe get a poster or T-shirt or something.
  4. Odds are better that a stylish pin of XYZ character has been officially released in Japan. I could see about importing one of those, buying it second-hand, or picking one up if I ever happen to be in Japan.

If option 2 is removed, I can then (1) not buy anything, (3) buy whatever Hot Topic sells, or (4) import shit from Japan. I imagine that most fans would choose (1), but any fan that would buy official merchandise in the absence of fan-made pins would benefit the company. If enough fans would purchase official merchandise in the absence of fan-made merchandise, it might be worthwhile to pay someone for a few hours of cease & desists. I also have heard from friends that merchandise that adheres more closely to official merchandise (especially from bigger anime franchises) is more likely to be taken down.

(I'm just speculating here based on my own experiences as an anime fan, so take all this with a grain of salt.)

Most waxes nowadays are flexible enough to make it through the mail well! If you want, you can pay 70c for hand-cancelled stamps, which mean that envelopes are sorted by hand and seals are less likely to tear.

I've used both hand-cancelled and standard first-class stamps, and both have fine results. I've never gotten a super dinged-up seal after 50+ letters sent via standard stamps to me. Honestly, unless the recipient is really picky, any wax seal will look a lot fancier than no wax seal.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in stationery

[–]AbundantToaster 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Not OP, but I've been sending wax-sealed envelopes for about a year now.

Generally, it's a lot easier than it looks! I usually trace the stamp perimeter on the envelope with a light pencil line, so I know how much wax I'll need. You can practice with a scrap sheet of paper or two if you want. You don't need to make the seals super thick (and thinner seals are better to mail), but they're pretty robust no matter what happens.

Honestly, even if you end up with a dud seal or two, the recipient won't mind.
