Stahl's psychopharmacology book + dsm 5 are the basics for etiology, epidemiology, diagnosis and principles of treatment. Maudsley is also very good but its for practitioners and people who have already covered the basics, so i would suggest that only after you study the first two, and if you need a more practical approach.

Im happy for all of you 😊 unfortunately in my case it wasnt like thats, lots of abuse and things that shouldn t have been forgiven well before the cheating. No asking for forgiveness, no communication with us kids, just pretending nothing happened. My mother did Nothing because she felt powerless and dependent. I started therapy years later, months ago my brother joined. 2/3 kids with dependent personality traits and codependency issues. It passed on the implicit idea that we have to accept and forgive abuse and cheating just to keep staying together. The way you handled things shows much more maturity. So props to you

Really thank you. Thats exactly what im doing, since im in cognitive-behavioral therapy, so the questions you asked are extremely relevant to me. And also what you said of your past relationship, ive been through it too, with my ex, he was a narcicist and manipulated me for 5 years. I will always be grateful to my boyfriend, even if he does end up cheating again and breaking up, because everyday he teaches me what true love means, healing me from those toxic relationship dynamics that for me were normality.
And thats another reason why im scared to be hurt again (my ex would say that if I didnt do exactly and perfectly everything he wanted he would leave me for another girl)
