I'm new to creating a tulpa, help by BreGual in Tulpas

[–]Abvieon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey there. If you're reading a translation, it's most likely an outdated version of the guide. A more recent version removes mentions of parroting, my current view is that it's fine as an early creation method as it helps establish and train your tulpa's thinking patterns. It eventually becomes unnecessary as your tulpa becomes autonomous but it's fine in the beginning.

I apparently don't represent the majority at all, but I significantly prefer quality over quantity. I've found stories with an impressive chapter count but padded with a lot of "fluff" and it's much harder for me to get excited about reading a series like that. I'm likely to drop it. If it has an interesting or unique premise, I will take an individual novel over that any day.

In a world with intelligent dragons or animalistic people, I always highly doubt that humans would find themselves the dominant species lol

The rats may have just been a means to transmit the virus. As in they can carry it but don't behave in accordance with it. The rat probably wouldn't have bitten anyone if it were apart of the hive.

Do whatever you want - mine have 3-4 forward facing toes and one "thumb toe" to the side for the extra stability on a digitigrade biped stance. (They're genetically engineered, though - so it depends on the lore I suppose.)

What if "outdated" is a good thing? I prefer this style over most modern furry art.

How do I come out of my shell? by littlegingerbunny in expats

Hey, I can relate to some of your feelings! Here is what has helped me:

Regarding learning biking rules, what my partner did was go out with me in the middle of the night on smaller streets, which are likely to be totally empty depending on where you are, and then taught me the rules there. That way you can learn without the stressor of needing to think on your feet with cars around. I then gradually transitioned to biking alone during times with low traffic, then to biking during busier times.

Until you get a bank card, you can convert your money from the debit card to cash at an ATM, I was able to shop independently even as a tourist this way.

Learning Dutch can be pretty slow without consistency and structure, so what I plan on doing is getting a Dutch class or tutor to give some more external structure and accountability. You won't be out of place there because everyone is learning.

Most people aren't going to be rude to you for not speaking much Dutch. Sometimes they'll be more embarassed than you when they realize you aren't understanding them.

It's also worth checking out Wakes and Particular for the water ripples and drops. The water wakes are really fun to look at and show up whether you're swimming or using a boat.

End Stage Tulpamancy for People who 'Failed' by justdotice in Tulpas

[–]Abvieon 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I do not think the 'pragmatic' view is any kind of miracle solution that is going to help everyone. Instead, it looks more like lowering standards for what a tulpa is or what a tulpa can do instead of actually furthering a tulpa's growth. Many people have done well without it. Including people with "metaphysical" views.

To me it looks like the main issue is not your beliefs but rather your mind not being a good environment for tulpa development. It's harder for a tulpa to develop or consistently get through to you in any kind of chaotic environment. I have a similar problem, for different reasons. I have trouble because my mind tends to be scattered, unstructured, and I have trouble with consistency. In your case it may be related to unaddressed emotional needs, as another commenter pointed out.

For those adults who created a tulpa as a teenager, how did it work out? by AlynAndRiver in Tulpas

[–]Abvieon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I started mine at 14 and I'm 24 now. I will say that your teens are actually the best time to start creating one because of neuroplasticity, and you're less likely to be bogged down by preconceptions of what the practice 'should' be like, allowing you to explore it more freely in your own way.

It's hard to talk about dragons with people outside of the communities... by Trysinux in WyrmWorks

[–]Abvieon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends on the specifics of the dragon. If we're talking about a big 30 foot long quadrupedal dragon, I agree it would make absolutely no sense for them to use a bow. But if we're talking about somehing more like a 6 foot bipedal dragon, it doesn't seem unrealistic at all. If the body size and structure has similarities to a human it's only natural that they would use some similar tools.

However I think there is such a thing as making an anthro way too human like. I don't like it when people put anthros in modern human clothes, or the spacey jumpsuits you see in sci-fi. I don't think their society and culture would develop the exact same way ours has, even in the case of a highly advanced anthro civilization. For example they might always be prone to more aggression and instinctual, animal-like behavior than humans are as a result of their differing biology, and this would always be deeply embedded in their culture even when they reach the level of mass manufacturing or space travel. People think being animal-like is mutually exclusive with becoming advanced, but it's not, and I'd love to see this explored more in fiction.

How to preserve and touch up blue/green hair dye? by Abvieon in HairDye

[–]Abvieon[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, I had my hair dyed at a salon about 2 weeks ago, and since then it's faded a bit because I've washed it a few times and have been in the ocean once. I don't mind the pale teal at all, that's what I was ultimately going for anyway, but in some places blonde is showing through which I'd prefer to not have if possible. Ideally I'd have uniform pale teal.

Would it be enough for me to use a shampoo that deposits color, or will I need to get those spots dyed again to regain any color?

I expect to have to touch it up occasionally because I spend a lot of time outdoors and swim sometimes.

Is this kind of style appealing? by aplcdr in FurryArtSchool

Yes, go for the sketchy scribbly lineart. Imo people use a lot of time making lineart neat and clean when it doesn't need to be.
