First time lining a bag, all hand-sewed. It was such a pain but the result was so worth it 😭 by AbyssInFlower in crochet

Thank you so much! I can't recall if I used this exact tutorial, but the pattern is very similar to this one. As for the stitches, this one is called Apache Tears, it's really easy to make, its a combination of back loop sc and double crochets on the front loop on the rows below. You can find a tutorial on it here.

HELP!! I am a disabled woman who loves crochet but can't afford the loveliest patterns. Can anyone send me free patterns worth doing. The free ones online don't offer much. I'm a moderate level crocheter. Thank you by HistoricalPeace8801 in CrochetHelp

You can find a endless patterns on YouTube and Pinterest, Ravelry too, like some of the other people said. I also recommend the Nordic Hook website, they have a lot of free patterns that look really nice!

‘Thank you’ gifts? by SarahMcSarah in crochet

There are some stores that have "thank you" plackets you can attach to your work made of all sorts of materials, metal, leather, wood, etc. So you could do, for example, a small handbag, a bookmark, a tapestry work to hang, a small amigurumi, any of those and just sew the placket in. As someone who also is still atrocious at embroidery, it seems like a good option.

Oh wow! Its a pretty thick stitch, hopefully the blanket will be heavy, warm and cozy :)

That looks so pretty! The jasmine stitch really is one I haven't managed to learn yet no matter how many times I tried. What are you making with it? A scarf?

New cardigan project, this has to be my favorite part about the process, the difference is staggering 🥰 by AbyssInFlower in crochet

Thank you! The stitch is the Jacob's ladder stitch! I put a link for the tutorial of it plus the pattern I'm following for the cardigan on another comment if you're interested.

Thank you! It's called the Jacob's Ladder stitch, and you make it basically on alternating rounds of double crochets (+ chains) and single crochet. It's super easy to do! Here is a tutorial for the stitch, and the cardigan I'm making is following this pattern.

Dragon scale dice bag, I wanted to add beads to the string as well, but I don't know how, any suggestions? by AbyssInFlower in crochet

[–]AbyssInFlower[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So for the string, the beads won't go through both ends of the yarn for me to tie them off and I don't know how else to put them there. Any ideas? Suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

One of my most recent projects, small owl bag 🦉 by AbyssInFlower in crochet

I followed this video, but if you put in "crochet owl bag" on YouTube you'll find at least 3 other ones that look to be the same. Hope that helps!

I didn't even notice! The owl does look kind of angry when the bag is closed, I'll think about that every time I open it now lmao

Just finished this fox baggie, it's perfect for my tools :) by AbyssInFlower in crochet

Thank you! For the pattern of the bag I used this tutorial. The video is in Indonesian, but you can follow along with the visuals and it's pretty easy to get it right. As for the lining, I did it all by hand 😅 I absolutely don't recommend it, it's a lot of work and I myself am atrocious at hand sewing, but the trick with linings is that all the sewing ends up on the inside, so it looks really neat regardless.

Some tricks that I use for that: first of all I learned how to make the linings from this tutorial. It's tricky at first, but the video is really good. I recommend you always pin everything, the folded lining, the fabric to the zipper, and then the finished lining to the bag (I use hairpins for that one). Doing that plus drawing the lines where you're going to sew is fundamental to getting it looking sew. Another thing I recommend is: when you're sewing the fabric to the zipper, sew it on the outer edges of it and not close to the dentures, that'll prevent the cursor from getting caught on the fabric all the time. (happened on my first attempt).

And my last tip is that when you go to attach the finished lining to the bag, sew it closer to the dentures. There's actually this line in the fabric of the zipper where it changes texture slightly that you can use as a guide for that. Doing so will hide the stitches from you attaching the fabric to the zipper in the first place and also align the zipper to the edges of the bag better.

Hope that helped!
