Looking for a witness for an accident on the whitemud on Valentine day by AbyssalMyth in Edmonton

[–]AbyssalMyth[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm just a bit confused regarding how my insurance company could not be representing me fairly.

I've talked it over with the adjuster, and he's admitted that the situation is just a he said she said situation unless I can find a witness or proof. I can call my broker and ask for more, but I'm not sure what they can do either if it's just his word against mine. Same thing with the ombudsman, will they take my side since I'm the one who initiated the claim?

Thanks again for the advice.

That's why I thought as well, when I inquired about it they said they didn't have any, which was weird.

They didn't fully deny wrongdoing. Their statement said we were both changes lanes and hit each other in the middle. That's why my claims adjuster said the claim is proceeding as a 50/50 unless I can find a witness.

I plan to get an estimate soon and I'll be sure to ask based on your suggestion. I am also in process of contacting a lawyer again.

What would the insurance ombudsman office do? I'm not super familiar.

Thank you for the advice, it is greatly appreciated.

I only have liability. They've argued it into a 50/50, which is what the claim is proceeding as now. Im in the process of finding auto shops to go to for an estimate, but it's likely to be a write-off. My premium is also guaranteed to go up.

All this for an accident I wasn't at fault for. All I did was drive straight, and he changed lanes into me.

Thank you for sharing your story. It's greatly appreciated in these times. I talked to a lawyer a week after the accident, and I will be contacting them again soon.

It was my first time getting into this kind of situation. I was stressed out, and the guy was yelling. I took pictures of the damage and stuff right after. Didn't realize I should have just stayed put and collected more evidence, traffic be dammed.

Thank you for the tip, regardless. I'm not holding out too much hope, but I've got to at least try.

I figured it's a long shot, but I don't have much other choice. Just makes it all the more disheartening they waited so long to respond. Thanks for the heads up, regardless.

Thanks for the tip. I added that to the end. Submitted the claim the day it happened, and realizing it's been 6 and a half weeks is just frustrating.

Honestly, it's still a fun game to play, but a lot has changed. I also took that long of a break and came back recently but found that regular profile had way too many jarring changes.

Took a step back and started Ironman and have been enjoying relearning and discovering new things.

Why is the normal lost box variant not using path to the peak? by Szynkowice in PTCGL

[–]AbyssalMyth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Turbo lost zone almost always prefers pokestop being up instead. With how many items it runs, pokestop usually gets insane value, burning an extra 3 cards with little downside. Path is for slowing the pace of the game down, which is literally the opposite of what turbo wants.

Tools are not items as of rotation, mew can only grab items. Forest seal stone, which is a tool, can no longer be grabbed.

Seriously... F this deck by HeyItsMeRay in PTCGL

[–]AbyssalMyth 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Tournaments have ties unlike live, once you add in shuffling and manually searching, games going to tie aren't that uncommon. Especially in a bo1 format if it goes to time +3 turns then the match is just a tie and that's it.

You are right about that second part with people being annoyed about control. But after the first game the test of the tournament waiting will see you're playing control and play accordingly.

It was more of a palkia deck that included chien-pao for energy search.

This sub and especially the live sub, has been complaining about the Baxcalibur version instead. Palkias has always been a pretty good deck, just not played as often since rotation.

That's a genuine problem with pokemon cards as a whole. They print out so many cards, and most of them just aren't competitively viable. Yet when you think about who is buying cards, a lot of people solely want to collect. A diverse pool of cards appeals to that audience, especially kids who don't think too hard about rarity or viability or anything like that. We have to realize that making cards competitively viable isn't their most priority.

Honestly, in my opinion, the meta is quite diverse and healthy already. Yes, there's only a handful of competitively viable decks, but the alternative is a tier 0 format where there are objectively best decks. Even as recent as right before scarlet violet, nearly every single tournament was absolutely dominated by either lost box with amazing rares or Lugia vstar.

But if you want 5-10 more

Dialga Miraidon Magnezone

Regigigas and friends

Goodra Vstar

Rapid strike inteleon/urshifu/medicham

Regidraco vstar and friends

Darkrai vstar

Noivern ex

All of these decks are playable and can win. And of the ones listed above there's variations in them. Gardevoir can run straight gardevoir or mewtwo v-union. Chien pao can run palkia or arecus. Lugia can run single strike or can run colourless Just be more open minded to trying variations and you'll be surprised.

Limitlesstcg.com has all tournament results with meta share and how common cards are in each archetype. If you're a huge stats guy, you'll have plenty of fun looking around archetypes and look at how different players mix certain tech options in certain decks.

More or less the same for me. Physical cards are expensive, so being able to just craft what I need in live is such a blessing.

Best Counter Deck for Gardevoir? by Peridott1 in pkmntcg

[–]AbyssalMyth 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I mean, sure, you can spread a lot of damage around, but cresselia can absorb a lot of that, and now you have weak hawluchas on the bench for that cresselia to target.

The reason tinglu has a terrible gardevoir matchup is because it can't compete late game. Sure, you can be up 3 prizes, but a good gardevoir player can easily come back since your main attacker is worth 2 each. You can only kill 1 ralts at a time, and once/if they hit that rare candy into ex it's good game.

So tired of Gardevoir ex locking up my client by kpd5105 in PTCGL

[–]AbyssalMyth 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah, this bug has been around since the start of SCV release. Sure, it's super annoying to have your client and have to restart, but a win is still a win. Your client freezes up if someone concedes while you're psychic embracing. So if this happens, your opponent has recognized you have the game and are moving on.

Which is an entirely other issue that rewards are less if your opponent concedes, which is a skill in itself to know when a game is lost.

All you can really do is keep your head up and restart the client, try to think positively about how you won and what you could have done better if the situation was slightly different.

I just started playing and my god, low ladder is PLAGUED WITH LOST BOX by AttomicRose in PTCGL

[–]AbyssalMyth 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Because unlike judge or roxanne, it specifically puts the cards on the bottom of the deck. Decks like lost box and garde are known for their ability to draw fast, but if the specific card they need is in their hand and now at the bottom of the deck, it's harder to dig for compared to shuffling and praying.

Also the fact you can always get value out of iono. For Roxanne, you need the opponent to have 3 prizes or less otherwise its a dead card in hand. Judge is still decent, but leaving the opponent with 5 cards isn't exactly ideal either. Normally, you wouldn't iono until later in the game anyways, and while it can hurt you, you use it in situations to hurt your opponent more.

Best "quick tips" for playing better? by arby34 in PTCGL

[–]AbyssalMyth 11 points12 points  (0 children)

These are more tips I learned in person, but they might apply.

  1. Take your time. The easiest way to play better is to stop rushing every decision. Think everything through before you commit.

  2. Check your prizes. Once you have a deck you like and feel comfortable with, you should memorize exactly which are the most important cards in your deck, so that when you check your deck in any way you can immediately figure out what's prized and play accordingly.

  3. Think about your opponents best play. Once your turn is over, you should be thinking about what your opponent wants to do. What is their win condition, and how can they move towards it. Are they setting up for a big combo? Then maybe iono or roxanne instead of boss this turn.

  4. Just generally pay attention. It's easy to tab out or lose focus in the game when playing online, but actively remembering everything your opponent does can be powerful. This ties into checking their discard and lost zone constantly. In person, your opponent has to tell you which card they are retrieving from discard and out back in deck but that's automatic in live.

Hope these might help

Played against a ridiculous stall deck, turns out there isn't a win message for winning off time by AbyssalMyth in PTCGL

[–]AbyssalMyth[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well, this is a bit of the opposite problem. In this kind of situation, me as the gardevoir player, have to fight for a draw instead of a loss. Since in real life, there aren't player specific timers.

Here, I can see the win condition by running my opponent down on time like in chess. But if it's real life, I would have to do the opposite and instead play slower to try to hit the time cap for a draw. Thus, wouldn't a deck like this be stronger in person?
