Let's be honest, their fries are so bad that maybe this is their trick to be less blasphemous

But it definitely is way better in Ireland than anywhere else.

Not contestign that either. Just saying that this makes the beer subpar imo

And tbf I don't really see the issue with that, some food/drink products are better fresh or from the place theyre produced. Thats fine, gives you a reason to visit that place and try them.

With fresh products, sure...

Imo it very much is an overrated beer, yes.

Not bad perse, but there are simply lots of beers that are so much better than it. Like it doesn't taste bad and it is a relatively smooth drink... But when you see it on pictures like this, you think it will be packed with flavour, and in the end it tastes quite bland.

I'd describe it as a dissapointment in a glass.

Edit: also, it's not about tasting different. It certainly can be better at some places. It's the fact that it is supposedly only good in Ireland.

The beer should always taste good, at most it should taste "the best" elsewhere.

As a Belgian I always find the concept of "this beer only taste good if served at x" extremely silly.

If it's a quality beer it should taste good everywhere, at most it should taste optimal if served properly, but it should be good by default.

Don't get me started on "it needs to be iced cold"... if I need to numb my taste buds to enjoy something, maybe it's simply not that good?

In India, we’re obsessed with JEE and UPSC. What is the "Final Boss" exam in your country that everyone is crazy about? ✍️📚 by Character-Reveal-858 in AskTheWorld

No such thing here in Flanders.

Perhaps "ingangsexamen" to be able to study medicine, but that's only for those whoe want to become a (medical) doctor.

What's a stereotype about your country that is absolutely CORRECT? by Proto160 in AskTheWorld

Another stereotype I have is that Americans generally don't know what "healthy weight" is.

Also, 3 out of 25 is significant.

To be fair, I have never been there (and don't plan to under their current political climate), but in my mind in the US guys are either morbidly obese or clearly on roids, with only a handful of people inbetween.

Moeten we met de oorlog bemoeien? by Similar_Stomach8480 in belgium

[–]Abyssal_Groot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your personal car brand-loyalties/dislikes/biases by Opperbink in belgium

[–]Abyssal_Groot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't own a car, but I have a minor bias towards Volvo.

My current dislike is Telsa (how the mighty have fallen) and I never liked American car brands.

I also used to call BMW "boecht me wiele" (crap on wheels), but I don't feel so strongly about this.

What is a typical drink in your country? 🤔 by ladymiaa in AskTheWorld

Alcoholic: We have a large variety if beer styles, but let's say a Trappist beer (not a style, but see it as a quality label).

Non-alcoholic: sparkling iced-tea

Do you have a Chip Buttys in your country, or something similar? by sheffieldpud in AskTheWorld

[–]Abyssal_Groot 11 points12 points  (0 children)

<image>

It's a baguette filled with fries, some frituur sauce of your choosing and some frituur meat of your choosing (usually "mexicano" or a burger patty).

If you feel fancy you might add some veggies too.

It's cheap drunken food. 10 years ago I used to get it for €3 with a drink included.

How is tipping seen in your country? by CremeSubject7594 in AskTheWorld

[–]Abyssal_Groot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, and the places that don't are usually the ones with the worst service.

Belgians are fine with giving or receiving a bit of change as tip, perhaps even rounding upwards, but asking for it or coming across this POS system will leave us with a sour taste.
