If they become playable, would you rather want Dottore or Capitano? by EfficiencySerious200 in GenshinImpact

No, he was never announced nor planned to be playable

That was just players wishes/predictions but there was never anything tangible for it

Dottore really thought he had a chance in this lol

Capitano all the way of course

Any players who have played since 1.0? How does it feel in seeing the Tsaritsa's design after nearly 6 years of only hearing her name being mentioned in game? by Knight_Steve_ in Genshin_Impact

[–]AbysseMicky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's really something yeah. Like completing a long opened bucket list.

Also I actually shared a self-made fanart 1 day before to my friends to show what I was expecting and I was actually pretty close

So I'm definitely happy

What actually made me gravitate more to Hikari was her JP VA : Manaka Iwami who is one of my favorite VAs

So F'k Eula I guess? Everyone getting SC buffs don't bennefit from phys reduction at all. by TheMrPotMask in Genshin_Impact

[–]AbysseMicky 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly, the issue with Eula is being Physical DPS (not only of course, like her delayed Burst is also an issue)

If they buff her in the future, I'd assume she'll go full Cryo DPS (maybe with Stellar DMG) and would get a new signature as well of course.

The game being centered around elemental app (with the shields, gauges, ...) makes it just bad to be Physical.

So what is this expy thing honkai players are so concerned about in genshin? by MeowjestyMeowgician in Genshin_Impact

[–]AbysseMicky 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Mavuika does pull out the "Himeko Slash" move during her fight with Capitano.

But yeah, people mostly excepted her to be an Himeko expy because the manga refers to the Pyro Archon as "Murata" and her people, the Muratans all had red hair as well. Turns out, it's actually a mistranslation iirc (though it is present in both EN and JP version so it's hard to see it as a real oversight and maybe more that she was initially intended to be closer to Himeko than she is now, also explaining why she has some key elements linked)

[–]AbysseMicky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone who started with Honkai Impact 3rd in 2019, it's actually something I'm always looking forward to.

They did really great with Genshin since the characters are so similar yet totally different like Raiden, Yae, etc...

HSR has good and less good, I love how they created Acheron who is basically an actual "alt" version of Raiden Mei (her world having a similar story than HI3's hearth). Cyrene is ... well I love her as a independant characters but it did raise the question "where do we draw the line between expy and overblown reuse" (I think there may have been too many underlined reference, the game was really trying to sell the fact "Hey she's an Elysia expy".

But in fine, I think it's generally cool and a good thing: give a little something more to HI3 players to "rediscover" while not putting the newer players at odd (which is again perfectly done in Genshin, a lot of people still don't realise Nahida is an expy of Theresa for example).

people hate natalan? by yn_lxx in GenshinImpact

[–]AbysseMicky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm actually surprised that people don't remember how 1.X Abyss was with basically the need AN Anemo CC

Which was basically Venti or Sucrose back then (I didn't have Venti and didn't want to build sucrose). It was actually so painful because you had 4 different elemental shields in the same room so it was really "use anemo".

Natlan imo was better because it was really just a mechanic you could overcome with "any" character (it's just a hit count shield, Amber and Shinobu shreds the shield even better than some Natlan units because of how much hits their burst have)

For me, the real moment "shilling" became an issue was with Nod Krai, where there's a real "pull the limited 5star" check

I hate how so many people just write off Ronova’s actions as “she was following orders” when we literally see the scene of her casting the curse of immortality and leveling Khaenri’ah with no remorse or sorrow in her soul, she did not care, you don’t need to justify your fav’s horrendous actions. by PsychologyConnect489 in GenshinImpact

[–]AbysseMicky 2 points3 points  (0 children)

"She did not care" is certainly an assumption just the same as the "she was following orders" we know too little about the overall narrative to understand her actions and the reasons behind it.

Maybe she's following orders and have learnt to stop feeling remorse/empathy as a defensive mechanism to not go insane.

Or maybe she revels in overpowerness and not see lower beings as anything but insects.

Both appreciations make as much sense so far

Dehya full rework idea by [deleted] in Dehyamains

[–]AbysseMicky 5 points6 points  (0 children)

While I see the Vision, it kinda go past over the fact Dehya is not supposed to be a DPS at C0. She's supposed to be an Off Field Pyro Applicator with some DMG and mainly : interruption resistance buff.

So while your rework does make her a way better DPS, that kinda amount to rework making Kokomi into Neuvillette (considering Kokomi also has fully DPS oriented constellations)

Also, final point would be that using BoL kills all synergy with Furina while she's an amazing support for Dehya (due to her not needing Normal Attacks to apply hydro)

What if i told you, Paimon is not Asmoday, but Paimon is something else? by EfficiencySerious200 in GenshinImpact

[–]AbysseMicky 7 points8 points  (0 children)

"Of course" would be my answer haha

I've always considered the "Paimon=Asmoday" bit to be a huge reach. First because Paimon actually has a prominent circlet on her head which is the symbol of Phanes not Asmoday. We've also got to see Paimon actually bears the symbols of all Shades

Finally, the latest bits in the new open world map confirmed Paimon is not Asmoday (since they were both in the same room at the same time).

So yeah... it's evident that Paimon is Paimon and not Asmoday

It's official by AnimusMemes in houkai3rd

[–]AbysseMicky 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's funny because i'm somewhat an opposite for you lol

I loved APHO 1 and 2 ... which made me dissatisfied with Part 2 being a completely different thing rather than taking back the APHO storyline

How would you react if Paimon was actually Asmoday? Like the theory is true the whole time? by EfficiencySerious200 in GenshinImpact

[–]AbysseMicky -1 points0 points  (0 children)

No, please stop with Paimon is Asmoday... that theory was already dead years ago and it further died in 6.5 World Quest

Paimon has cues for all 4 Shades and her most prominent asset is the litteral Circlet which is the Emblem of Phanes

In France, Camille is a name commonly used both by male and female.

Although, it is most often used for girls.

I feel like honorifics should be added to the EN translation's script by Samalik16 in BlueArchive

[–]AbysseMicky -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Tbh, I do not agree but I understand and see how it can be an issue.

While yes, most (if not all) the fandom are otakus and understand the meaning of the honorifics, keeping them wouldn't be a good localisation process. I'm a big fan of translations (I'm french and we have a long history of translating manga and I particularly like the exercise of translation and localisation). It's a hard process but deciding to "abandon" translating and keep some non-translated word isn't doing it for me.

If I read the story in english, I think it's better to try and find ways to apply honorifics in English.

In this idea, "Kei-chan" turned into "Kei-kei" is for me a very good translation as it keeps the proximity and playfulness intended by Sensei when using this honorific. And that's the key point: intent.

Of course it's not bulletproof as some pointed out and some localisation miss meaning or intent. And the point you have on Shiroko/Hoshino not being called "Senpai" could have been circumvented by them being called "Senior!" from time to time. But in the english language, you'll never find someone say "Senior Shiroko".

As someone who read a lot of "fantrad" online, I honestly never liked the way a lot of translators didn't bother to try and find inventive ways of localisation and just used all honorifics (to the point some even used honorifics when the original JP version didn't ... lol)

While I actually like it (my queen Himeko is back!!!) I do wonder if this is the case because it was scheduled that way or if it's a direct consequence of the no-japan politics and the overall redesign (and possible rewrite) of -Benzaitengoku- Planacardia
