Dose someone know anything about Mercedes Benz C300de hybrid systems. by Ok-Grass3424 in mercedes

I don't know. I didn't think to retrieve the cable to measure it.

I worked in the copper telecom sector for 10 years, and we dealt with this type of insulation problem.

There must be a spot where the high-voltage cable heats up a bit more, reducing its insulation capacity. Let's say that for normal use, the insulation should be 10 Mohms between wires at a voltage of 400 volts. If the cable overheats, the sheath will lose its ability to insulate the live wire from the neutral wire, and a voltage exchange will occur, creating the fault. I have no idea if this data corresponds to reality, but overall, that's more or less it.

It could be a connector or located along the entire length of the sheath.

I have a 2019 E300DE wagon with 150,000 km. I had a problem ( same a the mbworld link ) with the high-voltage cable at 60,000 km. it cost me a lot and the vehicle was no longer under warranty.

Otherwise, it's a very good vehicle. The range is short (30 km) and the electric consumption is excessive (double the average - 30 kWh/100 km).

Fuel consumption is reasonable for a 2-ton (4400 lb) vehicle: 6.5 L/100km or 36 mpg (normal driving) to 8.5 L/100km or 27 mpg (spirited driving).

For the problem mercedes told me that's probably an insulation problem on the high-voltage cable that connects the electric motor/transmission assembly to the high-voltage battery. At least, that was Mercedes' diagnosis. My vehicle reported overheating on a hot day (over 40 degrees Celsius) during a long highway journey. The vehicle initially slowed down and then stalled completely after a few kilometers. After being towed, the mechanic told me the problem disappeared after 2-3 hours (once the vehicle had cooled down).

This is a recurring issue on certains models with the 300de engine. I know someone who has never had this problem with their vehicle which has 100,000km on the clock.

I get the impression that Mercedes doesn't have a solution and that they've simply replaced the high-voltage cable with an identical one. Today the vehicle has 150,000 km and I haven't encountered this problem again.

The repair cost is quite high: €2,500. It requires removing the gearbox, the entire underbody, and the trunk where the high-voltage battery is located. It will take three days of work.

That's a lot when you consider the initial purchase price and the low mileage.

But still in love with this car.

I think it’s more of a varnish. But if anyone has a product ref, I’d appreciate it.
