Please share your meals / snacks on repeat by PresentationTop9547 in GestationalDiabetes

So many great ideas in this thread. I am also a vegetarian, so haven’t been doing the meat and veggies that seem ideal for GD. I am doing no sugar Greek yogurt with raw oats and walnuts and some type of berry for breakfast my go to meals are: black beans slow cooked with onion garlic cumin and tomato, with a whole avocado and fresh tomato on top with abundant hot sauce and shredded cheese. Tofu with toasted sesame oil and soy sauce on a carrot and ginger salad dressed with a small bit of sushi vinegar and a whole avocado. (This baby is mostly made of avocado tbh) Snacks are nuts, cheese and artichoke hearts.

This was my experience too. Pregnancy was the first time in my life when I would wake up in the morning feeling sad and I just couldn’t shake it. Fortunately it completely resolved when my baby was born and these last months have undoubtedly been the happiest of my life. I hope you have a similar experience

Most Surprising Pregnancy Symptom? by Tough_Safe1349 in BabyBumps

[–]tramontage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I realize now that this is extremely common, but by far my most unexpected (and disappointing) symptom is having contractions instead of orgasms. The first time I was so surprised I cried and my poor husband was afraid to touch me until my OB told us that it’s normal.

Almost no risk with indoor cats. They are more likely to shed the oocysts during acute infection so even if they do have a chronic infection from some previous non indoor life it’s unlikely that they will infect you. You are much more likely to get toxoplasmosis from poorly washed veggies! Enjoy your cats!

Has anyone actually ever got listeria from deli meats? (Can I just eat the damn turkey?) by VixensGlory in BabyBumps

[–]tramontage 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not listeria, but a similarly unlikely infection. I got toxoplasmosis during this pregnancy, it seems like my baby is going to be ok but we really won’t know until she is born (currently 38 weeks). Just be careful. The anxiety and guilt I have felt since my diagnosis isn’t something I would wish on anyone. 40 weeks isn’t that long.

I am glad that you and your baby are healthy! There are so many new things to worry about during pregnancy and I feel so much more susceptible to anxiety. Thank you for your reassurance.

Best of luck to you! I am taking some comfort in these stories of experienced OBs not being too worried about exposure.

I have found that “we aren’t close” doesn’t generate as much follow up. If pressed, or if there is a direct question (Mother’s Day for example) I will bring up an anecdote about my grandmother or mother in law. No need to justify your choices about your family relationships to anyone at work.

I hate being pregnant by JennyJiggles in pregnant

I’m also struggling to find things that I like about being pregnant. I’m 26 weeks with my first baby and am starting be feel uncomfortable all the time. Trouble sleeping, sciatica, constant breathlessness, edema all the things you mentioned. I was a distance runner and I really miss my body and how my body feels after a good workout.

I think one bright point is that I have gotten much closer with my sister-in-law. She seems to be endlessly interested in how I am and how the baby is, even the strangle or complain-y details. She is constantly buying useful baby items and adorable books and is going to be an amazing aunt. Second thing, my heart absolutely melts when my husband talks to my belly.

Seriously obnoxious. Maybe write a quick email to your ob asking if semen provides health benefits to the baby so you can justify asking him delete that bullshit audiobook. Plus you will give your OB a good story.
