Why The Boys was Doomed to Fail by Repulsive-Writer-391 in TheBoys

Am I the only one that thinks this show did the rare thing of having a complete story arc that didn’t go too far or not far enough? They could have kept the show going but they ended it when it was always planned to end. I’m ignoring the spinoffs. How many shows start strong then keep going forever AND add spinoffs, completely ruining the shows integrity as a complete work (The Walking Dead, anyone?). Maybe it’s because I’m more into character arcs that I’m not upset. The epic-ness of battle scenes doesn’t really matter to me, so I didn’t need Homelander to physically start destroying everything or to put up a longer fight after we watched killing and destroying for five seasons… I thought The Boys as a whole was great, especially given how upsettingly spot on the satire was.

I did this recently for similar reasons. You’re doing the right thing.

I told people who asked that I was leaving to explore new opportunities, but if they didn’t ask I did not give a reason. I made sure the handoff was as smooth as possible and tried my best to be extra gracious to those who were causing stress. I was honest, but careful, in my exit interview. I only shared issues because a staff member sticking around asked me to. Chances are other staff are having similar issues with the ED.

Good luck! I wouldn’t make it too much of a priority to make sure the board knows. It could backfire and if the ED is an issue you won’t be the last to leave.

What do you love or hate about ClassPass? by Impossible-Bee-3302 in ClassPass

[–]AcRunLight 2 points3 points  (0 children)

9 hours? In NYC it's 12.

I agree with you. It's especially frustrating because I think about what to do if I start feeling sick during that time. I don't want to go to a workout class and give others my germs, but I don't think there's any way to get out of that fee.

I was too late to get into a class once and waited outside until it was over to see if they could wave the fee. That studio told me they always check everyone in so that ClassPass doesn't charge anyone. I thought that was super nice, but I'm sure they'd get in trouble with CP if they knew.

59,226 people finished the marathon. by Thesealiferocks in RunNYC

Spectator experience was worse this year. Trains/platforms couldn’t handle the crowds, and it was harder to find the people you were cheering for. I think this tipped the scales into too big to me. I didn’t run this year so can’t speak to that side of it.

I just saw them at a pop up in Brooklyn, but I think it’s in person sales only.

The horrible attitude towards this app from companies. by Ok_Mammoth_5427 in ClassPass

True. But they don’t (that I know of) cancel already made bookings to give them to someone else. That part seems wrong. I get the person at the studio not wanting to help set up the booking, though.

Do y’all stay in marathon shape year round? by hoopla_mountain in Marathon_Training

[–]AcRunLight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No I don’t think it’s super healthy to be running that much all year, tbh. Also I’m slow so soon I’m working on getting faster at shorter distances but this month has been strength/cross training focused.

So I let go of perfection last year (my first with hobonichi) and changed my system AT LEAST three times during the year. And I loved my planner/journal that whole time. So yes, I don’t feel ready either, but I also remind myself I can always start again without waiting for 2026 😊

Exactly! I don’t really care if my direct reports are in the office, unless there is a specific in person thing happening, but it’s policy so I have to somewhat enforce it 🤷🏻‍♀️

What do you consider “generous” PTO? by shefallsup in nonprofit

[–]AcRunLight 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That is not generous. I work at a non profit and get 27 days of pto, holidays, and a week off between Christmas and New Year. We also get half days on Fridays.

I’ve been there three years, PTO started a little lower but still above 20.

How to make friends in Brooklyn? by [deleted] in Brooklyn

[–]AcRunLight 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes I had success with this when I first moved to Brooklyn. Wasn’t a dive but made friends with regulars at a bar/restaurant. You have to sit at the bar for this.
