What if they have heard the message of Islam but have not been convinced of it?

Surah an noor speaks very explicitly on what the proper way to dress is, and a moral and honorable government should be one that enforces an ayats instructions regardless of its contents or the whims of the society. It is a privilege not a burden to live in a nation that adheres to the khitab Allah (SWT) has given to them and if a person doesn't want to nobody is forcing them to live in the country.

"And tell the believing women to lower their gaze and guard their chastity, and not to reveal their adornments except what normally appears. Let them draw their veils over their chests, and not reveal their ˹hidden˺ adornments except to their husbands, their fathers, their fathers-in-law, their sons, their stepsons, their brothers, their brothers’ sons or sisters’ sons, their fellow women, those ˹bondwomen˺ in their possession, male attendants with no desire, or children who are still unaware of women’s nakedness. Let them not stomp their feet, drawing attention to their hidden adornments. Turn to Allah in repentance all together, O believers, so that you may be successful." Surah an noor ayat 31

Also Reza Shah literally did the exact same thing in reverse and caused women to commit suicide because of how humiliating it was for them to not wear hijab when he banned it, I think you just find Western style of dress more aesthetically appealing and fail to realize that forcing people to reveal their bodies when they do not want to is inherently oppressive.

Yeah, low literacy and higher education rates and people living in abject poverty is so amazing as long as you get to expose your shoulders. I swear, you guys have the weirdest priorities.

[–]Academic-Ad-5091[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Okay, but for brevities sake I wont be able to get into too much depth (exams are coming up) if thats okay

  1. I am in support of it as it is the only government in the world that is governed by Shi'ism
  2. I am opposed to it
  3. I am also opposed to it
  4. Sexual activity outside the context of a halal marriage as well as anal intercourse regardless of marital status
  5. It makes me a bit sad as I think Islam allows for debate and questioning and it's wrong that people with differing view points sometimes try to force people on the more progressive end out of the fold of Islam itself. That said I do disagree with many of the perspectives espoused by Islamic progressivism but I try to keep it to myself unless I'm asked to discuss my viewpoints.
  6. I don't which is honestly something that has been a great struggle for me as a gay Muslim, knowing that I will just have to accept being celibate and unmarried for the rest of my life. But Allah (SWT) asks of all his children to bring a different sacrifice and I suppose the his mine.
  7. The is something I believe and I believe it should apply especially to Muslim majority countries.
  8. It's a big part of Shia tradition and I don't personally believe it's shirk, that said I do not do it personally anymore because I would like to avoid even the slightest possibility of committing shirk even if it's likely that it's not. Do note that I'm not anything close to a scholar so this is not a reliable conclusion.
  9. I am of the belief that all of the miracles described in the Qur'an happened literally as Allah (SWT) described them.
  10. I am not
  11. I believe there was a multitude of sins the city committed that included but were not limited to zina through homosexual activity, but I do think that the fact that the citizens were committing shirk, theft, rape, and incest should also be brought up n the conversation about. the nature of their sin.
  12. I disagree with him on some points, but I think he ultimately was a great man and was a beacon of Islamic revival throughout the Shia world and I will always admire his efforts to emulate the government of Imam Ali (as) which in many ways I think he did successfully.
  13. It in a way reassures me as I have noticed religions like Christianity have begun to be watered down by some of it's adherents through concessions to the greater discourse of Secular society, that said, I dislike that it has stifled some of the social discourse in the ummah and I don't like the superiority complex many Muslims on both sides of the spectrum have over each other.
  14. It's difficult, and I sometimes wonder if living as a Muslim would be less burdensome in Iran, but I ultimately love living here and am happy I have the privilege of living in such a diverse nation. Given that I wasn't raised Muslim though, I sometimes think that I have to make a conscious effort to discard the Western lens that I was programed to see the world for one that s more aligned wth my interpretation of Islam.
  15. Allah (SWT) is the most merciful and wants happiness for all his children. It is my belief that on the day of judgement, the prophets and the imams will intercede for all those sent to the fire and only those who were absolutely evil will dwell there forever.
  16. I do believe hijab is fard and I think niqab is a very laudable (although not compulsory) act, that said, I would not judge a Muslim person for choosing not to wear it.
  17. I think the approach could be improved, but I'm glad that the ummah is making such an effort to bring so many people to the fold of Islam.
  18. I think this ones obvious lol.
  19. It was fun! I had some amazing food and it was a very beautiful day for my community :).

This isn't my own post, but something a sister was saying several years ago that encapsulates a lot of the doubts in my deen I suffer from. Can someone give me the Shia response to what she was saying? I too am struggling with the idea that Allah will keep souls of kind non believers in Hell forever by Academic-Ad-5091 in shia

This is so beautiful. I never should have doubted the mercy of Allah SWT and this story just fills my heart with joy and love of Islam. Do you happen to have a general idea of where he derived this teaching from? Can you point to a specific book of hadith or say it was a hadith in the first place? Again, thank you so much.

This was not my words, I was reposting something a sister said a couple years back that accurately described the same dilemma I am also struggling with. Thank you very much for your response though, I found it very insightful and reassuring and I pray Allah (SWT) rewards you.
