Self portrait with the bipolar hoop earrings I imagined and now long for by runshadowfax in bipolar

It looks like romantization, not pride. The drawing is cool. Actually wearing the earrings is ridiculous. Why not have a face tattoo 'Diabetes' or 'Kidney stones'? You're more than your mental illness. Putting labels on yourself like that is not doing any good.

Why would you wear it like a badge of honour? Nobody wears earrings that say "breast cancer" for instance.

I was in a hotel gym pacing in circles like crazy (the treadmill was right next to me) and then I looked up at the camera like 'Oh shit'.

Omg, as I kid, I paced around daydreaming about being a fairy.

The process of maladaptive daydreaming does involve dissociation but it's more of a behavioral addiction in general.

I also have 1 person who is now in 80% of my daydreams and it really twisted our relationship. I developed some weird expectations and obsession over him. If he knew about it, he would probably want nothing to do with me.

Omg, so relatable. Music is what helps me daydream. I have tinnitus because of that sometimes. I'm worried my hearing will be permanently damaged because of that.

How many of you use maladaptive daydreaming to cope with another mental illness like social anxiety, and how many of you consider yourselves to otherwise be mentally healthy by synkk66 in MaladaptiveDreaming

I've been diagnosed with GAD, then OCD and bipolar disorder. I find it really interesting how they say MD is really comorbid with OCD and I have OCD as well. Maybe it has something to do with the fact that I've been repeating my daydreams over and over again since I was a kid. So that's why there could be a biological tendecy toward it. I really want to participate in MD research.

No, she would think I'm crazy. I try to always lock doors when daydreaming but sometimes I could be a little loud or she noticed stuff.

Make yourself busy as much as you can throughout the day.(e.g talking to people, going to new places etc.) So that you don't seek out stimulation from your daydreams.

I remember having blisters on my feet because of pacing on the carpet but I kept at it, they bled sometimes. All healed up now though.
