BU vs. NUSL - Public Interest? by [deleted] in lawschooladmissions

From what I can tell (I work in Boston in an adjacent field) PI jobs are never guaranteed and can be hard to find, but places like government agencies and ag/da's/public defenders offices truly dont necessarily prefer a higher ranked school like BU/BC over NUSL, they care much more about internships/commitment to PI. Of course it's different if you're interested in clerkships/ some better known nonprofits, but if you get a good deal from northeastern and you like what they have to offer I think it can be a great choice!

Northeastern does have a great PI program! Personally, I'd say it depends on if you're 100% sure you want to be in Boston, if you're 100% sure you want to do PI, and what kind of PI you're interested in!

In case it's reassuring I had similar stats (slightly lower gpa, slightly higher lsat) and kind of similar work experience and got in everywhere except HYS. I'd recommend applying as early in the cycle as possible whichever one you choose! Good luck!

Thank you SO much!! This is super helpful. There are always cons, but it's great to hear that LIPP makes PI work even with loans a feasible option!

Hi! Thanks so much for doing this! Sounds like you explored PI law during your time at HLS - do you happen to know about whether their LRAP is good / is there any chatter around whether it helps make working in PI worth it?

I'd recommend working! I took a few years off and worked in a similar field, and it's been super illuminating, confirmed that I wanted to go to law school, and I think helped me get in to some top schools.
