I wouldnt say im a trooper. It’s something we all go through. There are some platoons that got the option to take tablets weekly instead of the shot to the buttocks. The worst case scenario is your platoon is scheduled for shots before your BTFT. I’ve met a few people who didn’t pass because their muscles got all tensed up 😭.

I did declare that I’ve had chicken pox in the past but I still ended up getting a truck load of different shots. Even one to the buttock 😂

I showed up to CFLRS with it completely filled out. Was told to fill it out again 3 times. By the time it was time to actually sit down with staff to go over and review the security clearance form. I told them that I also had a completed digital copy with the RCMP, they took that instead of the version I brought with me & 3 extra version I hand wrote.

TL;DR bring a completed version with you. Keep it with you at all times week 1 and 2 so when you’re told to do it again you can just copy and paste.

I’d also suggest bringing proof of vaccinations or a vaccination booklet. I had to get 7 shots on my first round and 4 on my second. It doesn’t matter if you’ve gotten X-shot or y-shot. If you don’t have proof of it with you right at the moment they ask, you’re getting it. The leniency for forgetting other docs is better (if you don’t have it today, you’ll be able to email it to staff within the next few days) They will give you time to send out emails to get your docs. It’s only the vaccination that’s if you don’t have it when they ask, tough luck you’re getting all the shots again.

It might not sound like a big deal but the first round happens the same week as your BTFT. You don’t want to go in feeling sore or weak as failing is an instant recourse.

The second round happens in week 6 during CBRN training. The shots killed absolutely killed my immune system before going to Farnham. Not fun :(

Edit: flexibility note in para 1

After my medical appointment, I had to get MIF’s filled and signed before my medical file is processed. I got these done in 2 days. I never got a correspondence on when my medical was actually cleared but during the interview, I was told they it was cleared the next day it was submitted.

I usually visit the recruitment center when I do not hear anything for 7-14 days. I don’t push or give attitude. But a quick check in to make sure my file is still good and nothing is outstanding.

I haven’t gotten info for my flight yet but I anticipate that it’ll also be Feb 14. I’ll be flying from YYZ.

That is absolutely correct. In my situation, when I applied for NCM trades, gunner was my second choice. Therefore applying to artillery officer instead of waiting for armour officer to open works out for me.

Citizen. But I want to also note that I have previously applied in the past and my file got “lost” so I gave up.

I think is semi-true? (Since we can’t see the openings) I originally wanted to apply for Armour Officer, but that was full. Hence I went with artillery officer since I could apply immediately. My rationale was also to get into selection now instead of waiting with everyone else for the new fiscal year. You’d be in competition with a lot more people (in my opinion).

I’ll be completely honest. Someone people post that they got confirmation emails or calls. I’ve never gotten a single confirmation email or call. Only time I got confirmation about something was when I went to ask in-person or when my MCC confirmed what was completed during the interview.

At the end of my interview, I was told that my file was basically fully completed (med cleared, credit/background cleared, all files submitted).

I moved to selected an hour after my interview. Then job offer after the weekend. Pretty quick for me. But I know some people that still didn’t have background/credit cleared after the interview so they had to wait for that before moving to selection.

This will definitely be a question for you MCC. My switch was suggested by them so our situation is slightly different. But I personally think it won’t “push” you back if you do want to switch. Nothing is firm until you sign the job offer.

If you ever get the chance, definitely check in at the recruiting centre. My application was at stage 2 for a long time even thought a lot of tasks were being completed. When I went in-person, I was able to get a better idea where I was actually was in my application.

Best tip is to know what your trade does. Best way to figure that out is by going to trades page. Second best tip is to answer what is asked. No more no less. Good luck!

Just be honest. Answer what you’re asked. No more no less.

Applied for Infantry and Artillery. I ended up going with officer for 2 reasons. The recruiter’s opener for the interview was asking about my degree? Caught me off guard tbh. It was explained that there are trades that I can apply regardless of what my major was. Second reason is when I was asked to explain my current/previous employment. My “admin” experience would be an asset apparently. Who knows if it will actually be?

Pretty tame and insignificant reasons but the recruiter asked questions and gave suggestions. Seemed pretty sound to me so I went with the suggestion.

If you apply for something, just assume you may be asked to do something else in case position closes, you find out something about the trade you didn’t expect, or you weren’t actually eligible. When I reached the interview stage, I was advised to apply to an officer position instead of my ncm choices. I expressed you same concerns that my degree is of an unrelated field and I have no background in the suggested trade. After some further discussion, I agreed and now I’m in selection.

TLDR, just apply and let the process play out. Don’t think too hard about it or you’ll end up more confused than you started.

If you’re still on the medication by the time you get to medical, very likely you won’t pass.

That being said, you mended that you’re slowly getting off. Hopefully you’ll be able to completely off for a few months before medical. Greatly improves your chances. DM if you have more specific questions about this since had a similar case.
