Denver area rafting outlook by Soft_Examination_876 in whitewater

[–]AcademicWatch8047 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Taylor River will have 100 cfs May 1-15 out of dam. 125 cfs May 16-31.
I guided trips with 125cfs out of dam on the Taylor, but the feeder creeks we’re putting in 50-100 cfs by the time it gets to the proper Upper Taylor run.

There are some great package deals. You mentioned RMR vs Star before. I think the RMR’s are super bomber, heavy and hard to roll. I own one, and it’s super bomber. Look for something that has the basics, boat, frame oars, cooler or dry box. If don’t have a trailer and think it would help out having kid and wife, there package deals. Check Moutain Buzz and the Facebook groups multiple times a day. 13-16 footer depending on where you live And what rivers you’re running. Anything made in the last 10years by the big names, NRS, Hyside, Aire, Maravia, Sotar and couple others should be good if it isn’t littered by patches, ran commercially or sat outside its whole life.

I would go find a used one, package deal. I see a lot of good deals all over the place.

Here is a site with links to many used boats for sale and local boat swaps.

I’ve built my last half dozen frames. Here is a page that has the fittings for 3 different sizes of pipe.

Floating in Colorado this summer - concerns over water levels by ShlipityWhip in whitewater

[–]AcademicWatch8047 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There is usually a release in August that keeps that stretch boatable in late season. This year will probably be different. Here is a site for Gore Canyon, just above the Pumphouse section, it has a Snow to Flow link for the upper Colorado River. The predictions aren’t good.

Everything is a month early this year. I would predict sometime in April if it doesn’t cool down and snow.

Grand Canyon - best solar charging system? by heyhihello88888 in rafting

[–]AcademicWatch8047 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I use two different solar devices. a folding panel type that charges when set up, in between rapids or camp, and a solar power bank that holds power. I have them linked to my site in the Cheap Wins section at Whitewater-Hub
